SPACES & GROUPS: Guys what is the difference between spaces & groups? If we are trying to setup LinkedIn type groups, should we set them up as spaces or groups? At the moment we have added a few 'industries' under the groups so perhaps the associated individuals can start a conversation. But is that the right strategy to start off with?
Dan Group it is just a placeholder so you can add below the group your Spaces and/or courses. With Group you can organized your Spaces.
Where Spaces are like teams where all the conversations are located etc.
Since it is Beta there is no detailed support yet but in Beta most of users are Geeks so we learn by try and error and we can learn how this community works.
You can see how it is organized here with the Groups and Spaces structure on the left pane but I am pretty sure that you will figure it out.
Not Important, I think we should take hints from a similar sketchbook as other community platforms like FB & LinkedIn. Watching this space and others feedback on how they are using these.
This is still a mystery. 😖 So we want to create Education > Universities in USA > MIT. In this scenario, what will be the Space and what will be the Group? Plus, can users also create their own group & spaces and then make them 'members only'?
Dan, Group it is just a placeholder on the left Pane/Menu. Without a Group it would be a mess. Groups can be Expanded/Collapsed. It is pretty simple structure for Groups so they can keep Spaces and/or Courses inside.
You can call your Group: EDU USA and Space: MIT etc.
It is a way it is designed here.
Currently fCommunity Users (WP Subscriber role) cannot create Groups and/or Spaces since they are a general users aka end-users (our customers) and they don't have any elevated privileges in fCommunity.
ps. fCommunity it is not a MS Teams or a Facebook and probably it is not even a goal to replace any complicated solutions where companies spend millions of dollars in order to be able to serve to a huge crowd.
ps2. I wish to see how many users we are expecting to handle with fCommunity but probably <1000 and in most cases it will be around 100 users if we are talking about SMB/local businesses etc.

Dan, You can call your Group: "EDU USA" and Space: MIT etc. It is just an example of course.
For users limits I belive it is up to your WP limits for now and you cannot provide a max number of users in a Space. If needed the you can place a Feature Request here of course.
ps. If you need to specify a Privacy also for a Group so you can request it. In case where you have +10 groups it might be a good idea

Dan Please note that I have also requested to add a shortcut buttons directly in Groups so Super Admin (aka WP Admin) or Community Admin don't need to go into Spaces or Courses to create them.
Once you become familiar with the fCommunity UI/layout design and settings it is easy to manage.

Dan, welcome on board Sir. Try to add 3 spaces (with 3 different Privacy: Public, Private. Secret) under a Group Menu and add 1 course so you can see what's going on and how to build your Group structure etc.

Not Important, bro we would not have courses under groups for now. This is something we need to explore because this requires things like, if we create / post a course on fC, is there a payment option, is there a course enrollment option, or is it just an external link to some course on our website? Anyways, coming back to groups and spaces we are looking at the structure of LinkedIn Groups where we (on anyone) can create a group i.e. Education and then spaces below that group, University of MIT, and then "hopefully" have users from that University join the group and start a discussion on updates, jobs, classes, admission, etc.... So the question is, is that possible today?
Dan, payments for courses can be done but with woocommerce and FluentCRM (or other solutions if you know how to integrate those puzzles). But this is far away from where you are now at this moment.
First I suggest to create a simple group and spaces and see the Space Privacy differences - for this case scenario I suggest to invited an external user/s to the Space/s.
For Beta testing it is good to invite a NEW user so you can see and learn how the process looks like.
Once this the above is tested (lesson learnt) you can either add a simple Course example with dummy content. Course can be added in any already existing Group or you can add a Group called: Courses and under this Group add your testing course. It all depends what you want to achieve with your structure. Be aware that courses here are really simple (it is not LMS replacement) so you might not even needed if you are experienced LMS user and have some other plugin for that bit they are rally usefull here if you want to keep everything under one hood called: fCommunity.
We need to do everything from the scrach by ourself for now. This way you can discover how those modules/features works and move on.
ps. Ah.. Let's say that for now all courses are Free but when you will be ready, there are some ways how to integrate FluentCRM and make those courses Paid.

ps. there will be more yt videos regarding fCommunity by awesome content creators but don't forget that currently this is Beta version with testers so we are those who test and share feedback for the team etc. If someone is expecting detailed manualls for every configuration and/or possibility it might be too early to have those ready yet. But feel free to ask.

In most cases probably community is needed for external users who don't have any elevated access (other than a Subscriber) in the WP-Admin console but this is something outside my knowledge and my case.
I fully got your point but you also have the answer there:
"If a user has edit posts permission then they will get access regardless of the access settings".
