FluentPlayer Series (Part 2): Media Hub Organization (Media Tags for Filtering & Sorting)
Hi Jewel, the WPManageNinja team, and the Fluent Community,
Following my previous post about the frontend Smart Media Grid (Part 1), itโs time to look at the backend engine.
If Part 1 is about converting visitors, Part 2 is about saving creators from chaos.
As we scale and upload hundreds of assets (Courses, Webinars, Sales Clips), managing videos strictly by "ID" or "Title" becomes a nightmare. We need a way to instantly Filter and Sort our media.
The Problem: The "Data Dump" Friction
Right now, the FluentPlayer dashboard acts like a raw storage folder. If I need to find all videos related to "Course A" or "Drafts", I have to manually scroll, search, and guess. There is no structural hierarchy.
To become a true Media Hub, FluentPlayer needs standard internal categorization. Presto Player currently handles this perfectly, and itโs time we bring this standard home to Fluent.
The Solution: Internal "Media Tags"
Please introduce a "Media Tags" taxonomy strictly for the FluentPlayer Dashboard (See the Presto Player reference below).
Core Capabilities Needed:
- Quick Tagging: Let us assign tags (e.g., BLUEKY HUB, SNS-K2, Promo, Q1-2026) right in the editor sidebar when configuring a video.
- Admin Dropdown Filter (Critical): Add a filter dropdown in the main Media Hub list. I select "SNS-K2", and the list instantly refines to show ONLY those videos.
- List View Column: Add a "Media Tags" column to the dashboard so we can see file categories at a single glance.
โ ๏ธ The Critical Distinction (Please Read)
I am asking for Internal Organization Tags (for the Admin to manage files). I am NOT asking for Automation Tags (for CRM/WP Fusion).
- Automation Tags: Track the User's behavior (e.g., Tag applied when a user watches 50% of a video).
- Media Tags: Organize the File's location (e.g., This video belongs to the "Course A" group).
Why this is a mandatory upgrade:
This is a native WordPress standard (just like Post Tags). Adding this transforms FluentPlayer from a simple video player into an Enterprise-Grade Asset Manager.
For power users and agencies managing massive video libraries, this eliminates hours of mindless searching.
Power users in the community: If you are tired of losing track of your videos and want a clean, highly organized backend Media Hub, please upvote and comment!
Letโs keep building the ultimate ecosystem.
Best regards,
