Disable post editing feature
How can I stop the post editing feature? How can I stop the ability to edit posts by users themselves and by space administrators?
If there is currently no way to stop modifications If there is no way currently to stop editing posts, I hope it will be added soon.
Ask Shahjahan JewelΒ for a time feature that will not allow edits after x amount of time has passed, maybe a feature also that would limit post deletion also. If a member has alot of posts then it would leave a gap in the community if they decide to remove all of their posts.
David ScurlockΒ That may be so, however because of privacy laws users have the right to do that. Especially when they leave the community. All data is erased when the profile is deleted.
To explain 'illogical' comments, maybe a 'this is a response to a deleted comment' would be good to have. Shahjahan JewelΒ
J VΒ content itself does not violate any such privacy laws, however, if any member wishes to delete their account, then their user name could be switched to anonymous, but the content remains.
David ScurlockΒ That could be done, however they have the right to delete all posts. Even on FB when you leave a group this is offered. I totally get that it can be disrupting the flow of a conversation, but you have no right to keep the posts or comments.
J VΒ I cant help what FlunkyBook does. But I sure would love to review any case law you have on this matter.
David ScurlockΒ I consider this basic knowledge, but here's a link anyway: General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) β Legal Text
J VΒ do you know what will happen if I do not remove a members personal data? Absolutely nothing...they can moan, groan, cry, and even complain to the EU. But ultimately nothing will happen.
David ScurlockΒ haha but you do know privacy law in Europe is a serious thing, members should be allowed to edit their comments/posts you know. Or you can actually add it in your privacy policy page telling EU that members are not allowed to edit if they would accept your terms and conditions. Even showing ads on your site, you'll need gdpr and members are able to see and click x(close) ads from displaying.
WiLson EberechiΒ I did not imply it was not serious. I just dont really care. Gdpr is designed to go after mega sites that make mega cash flow, or they may have assets in the European union. I bet you 95% of sites do not comply with gdpr one way or another and gdpr will never come for them because they are not a mega site. Gdpr is looking for big dollars, not pennies on the dollar. Gdpr is so technical that one woukd need a lawyer to patch all the leaks but I am not concerned about gdpr because im not the person they want, they want big tech...
