Pay Now button for Bank Transfer orders routes to checkout instead of payment details

When a customer places an order using Bank Transfer (Direct Deposit), the order in their account dashboard shows a "This order has some due amount. Please complete the payment." alert with a Pay Now button. Clicking this button routes the customer back to the checkout page rather than to their order receipt where the bank transfer details are displayed. For offline payment methods like bank transfer, returning to checkout is not a useful action and could cause confusion. I would have thought it would go somewhere with payment options vs the full check out. I say payment options as perhaps they change their mind and want to pay by card.
