How to download invoices, and not receipt ?

Apart the fact that I would really really like to have the possibility to bulk download a bunch of invoices at once, I can't find the way to download one invoice...

I mean, I get the receipt... I want the invoice. I set the invoice template... But still.

What am I doing wrong here ?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe PDF invoice downloads are a Pro feature. Please correct me if I'm wrong ✌️☺️

Diego MaradonaΒ I don't know if you're right or wrong. But I'm a Pro user.

Hello Pierre, I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. The current terminology and implementation are genuinely confusing.

For paid orders, FluentCart generates the serial-numbered Order Receipt and exposes it through Download Receipt in the customer dashboard. This appears to be the final transaction document that FluentCart currently treats as its β€œofficial invoice receipt”.

The separate template shown in Fluent PDF as Invoice is, internally, proforma_invoice. In the current implementation, it is intended for offline or pending orders, and its default content asks the customer to complete payment. In other words, it is effectively the pro forma or pre-payment document, not the final PDF generated after payment.

That is why customizing the Invoice template does not change the document customers receive through Download Receipt.

This distinction is not clear in the interface or documentation. We discussed the wider Receipt vs Invoice issue here:
Receipt vs Invoice clarification for EU stores

Regarding bulk downloads, we built a small private add-on that bulk-downloads the generated PDF receipts/documents, so it is technically possible. We have not published it, and it does not resolve the underlying terminology and document-model confusion. We are also waiting to see what the upcoming Fluent Invoice release changes prior to any enhancement.

Ideally, FluentCart should:

  • clearly define the purpose of Receipt, Invoice and Proforma Invoice;
  • identify which document is intended to be the final tax invoice;
  • expose that document consistently in the customer dashboard and admin;
  • ensure that it uses the corresponding configured template;
  • and provide native bulk PDF downloads.

So, in short: you are not missing a setting. The current Invoice template and the customer-facing Download Receipt action belong to two different document flows.

Jorge de los ReyesΒ Thank you for the confirmation !

I remember I posted about the bulk download a while ago. I really hope it will be taken in account anytime soon. This week is a special week, so fingers crossed !

PierreΒ sure! fluent invoice will come to clarify many of this aspects.

Until then, I guess that the way to go is treat receipts as invoices (making sure they gather all the required legal info); update the namings on the front end; and so.

And about bulk download: I’m sure it will come soon!

Until then: just rest assured you can always create a snippet or plugin add on and customize the downloads to your preferences 😬

I hope the WPManageNinja team can improve this aspect in the UI and the docs.
