Any updates on the VAT situation?

Hey friends, Just curious if any progress, thoughts or planning has been made towards solving the VAT issues posted earlier?

Jorge de los Reyes

Hello Shayne!

I posted this recently regarding some feedback on my last test: https://community.wpmanageninja.com/portal/space/fluent-cart/post/fluent-cart-feedback-smarter-checkout-f

Which specific issues are you referring to? (So as to also be aware and/or update feedback if necessary πŸ˜„).

Shayne Thomas

Jorge de los ReyesΒ hi Jorge, I posted about the VAT not being removed from the price when a user puts in their ID while prices are set to be shown including tax.

Jorge de los Reyes

Shayne ThomasΒ oh! I remember your question.

Not sure if that was addressed. I’ll check that too πŸ˜„. Have you tried the last updates to check it?

I’m still on the side of being able to customize this at a product level (tax included or excluded) so as to be able to have a proper B2C + B2B store though!

That being said, without addressing proper tech requirements on invoices, I guess (as I mentioned in the feedback), it won’t matter much, because compliance will be a bit tough regarding live tax reporting πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ

Hello Shayne ThomasΒ : I can confirm, that if store is set to β€œtax included”, and the EU VAT is entered, tax is set to zero (no tax) but total is not deducted.

So, no. This is not addressed.

Both options should be available: always charge the same price tax included or not; or select if it should be deducted. (Product level: so as to be able to address specific cases for B2C and B2B). That being said, as we commented before and I’ve referred before, entering an EU VAT will make any B2C into a B2B operation. I mean, no consumer will be entering an EU VAT. πŸ˜… So again, I think that addressing this at a product level (so as to be able to customize B2C and B2B products) could be a good way to handle this πŸ˜„

Jorge de los ReyesΒ Thanks for the update Jorge. Yeah, so thats basically what I was asking about. A product level setting of tax would certainly work - but I know things like WooGermanized handle that automatically globally. Not sure if there's an easier way for the team to handle that but I guess product level gives more control.

We are still working on it. Thanks for your patience.

Ripon SarkarΒ Thank you Ripon! Honestly, take your time and get it right. I rather wait than run into unnecessary challenges down the line.
