xCloud
Everytime a Deal comes around, i'll ask myself, if this would be something for me or my clients.....
Using WPX or Hostinger, i had never really had to setup a server before or take care of emails or backups, because it's always included.
Anyone in here that could give me a brief overview, something like "a switch to xcloud only makes sense, if you get a xy server with xy specs, backups, emails, etc. otherwise it's probably better to stay with Wpx, etc.".
It's even ok if you tell me: "if you don't know nothing about servers, just stay where you are :D
I am currently with hostinger, however, they do not offer managed vps plans, and since Shahjahan Jewel recommended xcloud then I will try a managed plan on xcloud, even though xcloud is a bit more expensive then hostinger, so far, I have been seeing good reviews for xcloud.host so I will give them a shot.
My setup:
- xCloud with Hetzner (CCX) servers that can be rescaled anytime, easy setup with just few clicks from xCloud panel with Hetzner integration, crazy performance and one-click WordPress install
- Backups I do with xCloud to pCloud (they offer lifetime plans, very cheap at Black Friday, 10TB = 799$), at xCloud you can setup backup plans to pCloud integration. To setup a new backup plan it takes less 15seconds
- E-Mail I only use inbox with FluentSupport and for sending e-mails (FluentSMTP/FluentSupport/FluentCRM) I use Amazon SES as provider (crazy cheap, 10.000 mails just for 1$). Its little bit complicated to setup first time Amazon SES/SNS (FluentCRM provide lot of guides for it) and after you approved from Amazon then new integrations I need only 1minute, so if you have done first time setup then you will be really happy
Its for me currently the best WordPress setup in the market
I’m not using their email capabilities (1$/month extra if I’m not wrong) because we rely on Google services for that.
But emailing aside, using XCloud has been a great and smooth experience so far!
Many updates, many one-clic apps, flexible backup system for both sites and while server, tech-savvy and friendly support team… we’re so happy with them :)
I did a similar ask with my friend ChatGPT to understand the difference between where I am and the possibility of switching to xCloud. Now I get chat isn't real life experience but it was helpful for me to decide to stay put (for now) as I don't manage client sites so not really a need for multiple servers and I have several email accounts (which is not a reason to stay put but it would add to the complexity). It would be good to have it explained by human at grade 8 (or maybe grade 6) level to understand whether it is a benefit to me. I'm fairly technical but for me I tap out on some of the explanations 😳
I did a full switch to them. What sold me was they helped me migrate my PHP based url shortner over. I can say without a doubt this was one of the best purchases I ever made. I can spin up dev sites with a blueprint of my choosing in 1-2 minutes.
Support can be a little delayed (a few hours not days) but they have always been able to tackle any issues.
