Will FluentCommunity work for my needs?
I've set up a test installation of FluentCommunity and I'm still learning the ins & outs. There are some features that I hope will be coming, but there also may be methods to do what I want in a different manner.
Here's what I'm looking to do - I am setting up a site for a national car club. We have close to 10,000. We sorta have 3 divisions and within each division we have regional chapters - about 25 chapters in each division. As you can see, if I setup Spaces for each, that would be about 75 spaces and could be quite a lot for the new user.
I though the Groups function could help, but if I put all the spaces in the Groups, that left column menu is extremely long. And in any case, the Spaces tab will be quite long for someone to browse through.
Any suggestions for how to better organize Spaces or any new features on the roadmap that might help?
On a related note, any possibility that we could have topical based chats within a Space? For example, I think we could have a General chat in a Space and then an Events chat in that same space.
You can create secret spaces, these are only visible to the members in which the member is added.
The administrators can see all the spaces, but it is very clear for the members.
AndrΓ© SalierΒ I was thinking that might be an option -- and could probably utilize that. I'm still trying to figure out how to handle it if a user moves to a new area - how do they find the new Space if it is secret? That's more of an edge case, but something I want to at least consider.
I was sorta hoping having nested spaces, or categories, or filters...
Patrick AndersonΒ We will display the spaces on the website, and in this way, the member can select a space and join it.
