What's your use case for Fluent Community? What features do you still need?

I'm curious what you all are using the product for at the moment? What sorts of sites and communities and with what kind of size and engagement? What's still missing just now that's stopping you going live if you haven't yet?

I've seen a few mentions of clients so I assume some of you provide a community platform to an end user? How does that work?

I assume the multi-license purchases are able to be resold? At least as a service? How many of you are doing that?

Also saw mentions of trying to use the platform for things like a knowledge base. Anyone else doing things a bit out of the box that aren't strictly a discussion board/course site?

Thank you Ross HΒ

Mine is for courses. Fluent Community is really so nice but the course feature is really lacking. These may include:

  • Need to add ability to allow course creators only have access to their own courses not the entire course catalogue.
  • Add ability to add quizzes and assignments to the courses
  • Ability to add some basic course info e.g. About, Objectives, materials etc...
  • Add certificates to the courses and a lot more.

Once those are added we shall be good to go. Otherwise, FC is a great product.

  • I need another layer in the courses so that I can give the course Sections > Modules and below that the Lessons.
  • The block editor inside the courses needs to be improved. Now I can only add images in the course through links and I would like to access the Media Library.
  • I wish the courses had quizzes
  • Would love to give out certificates when a student finish a course
  • Would be nice if a course has some tabs at the top like Sophia writes. To give more info, materials, etc
  • I would like to have the ability to move the courses and groups in the order of apperance.
  • I would like to integrate an option for live meetings (Zoom, Google Meet, something else)
  • A calendar is very much needed that can be connected to FluentForms / Paymattic to sell tickets for offline or online meetings
  • Would love to have a moodboard/image gallery where students can add images to show their work
  • I organise monthly challenges. Would be great to add this so that students can register. A challenge is open for almost a month so I want to close the challenge after a decided date and I want to show the winner including the price.
  • Would love to see the option that members can write something on the wall of each other (Facebook alike)
  • A know-how/FAQ section would be great

Mistery

For me, the most important things would be:

  • Customization of data and content in profiles, allowing each user to have their own feed with their content, services, or products and display personalized data such as location, profession, or company, etc.
  • Customization of the design (header, footer, sidebar, cards, etc.).
  • Integration of FluentCommunity with Elementor, JetEngine, and WooCommerce, which would unlock a world of possibilities for its use.

Thank you, Ross H.

I am using it for a national (potentially international) car club in the US. We have 3 different national groups/spaces and eventually we want to have regional chapters/spaces as membership grows. The biggest needs that I have are better organization of spaces and an events calendar/management integration. The new search feature for spaces will help, but a filtering and a hierarchical system would be useful. For events, I am just using a Wordpress events manager (The Events Calendar) which means members have to exit the community to submit or view an event.
Another thing that would be useful is inclusion of custom fields in the profile pages. For our case, it would be great if members could list details about their car.

The ability for users to follow each other!!!

  • Maybe as another option under the profile you can see a feed of the people you follow

Update the Register page
(this turned out to be huuuge barrier to entry based on received feedback)

  • Either automatically add a username based on the email AND/OR tell people that that they can change their name & username later

Thank you!!!!

I want the user to only see content in their feed from the spaces they have joined.

There should be an option for users to block another user so they don’t see that person’s comments and posts.

Friend requests and notifications should be sent when friends create posts.

In the left menu, only display the spaces the user has joined.

In the left menu, when something happens in those spaces, a notification (+1) should appear to show that something has been written there.

We're migrating from Circle so anything they have, we'd like to keep. We love Circle, just not the $$$ we're paying monthly for it. I'm currently migrating over 2,000+ members and 2,000+ posts.

Courses are where I see the most need for improvement. Based on my experience with Circle, it looks like Fluent has copied the layout, function, and, well, pretty much everything from Circle. Yeah, well, the good and the bad.

Courses is pretty basic now. The landing page is pretty much un-design-able (so I'm either using Fluent Forms Pro landing page, or a WP post with the Fluent Form in there).

Circle has some pretty awesome stats/analytics: members, income, activity, etc.

It's also rather complex to get payments done for a course (connecting Forms Pro, payment methods, tags in CRM Pro, access rights, etc.), so I'd love some simplicity there. Don't get me wrong, Circle doesn't do this super well, either (e.g. Payment Gateways linked to Course, etc.).

As you know, Ross H, because you offerred to look into it, where we are really stuck is the migration of the posts (spaces, etc.) and the members from Circle to Fluent.

We are also migrating from MailerLite to Fluent.

Thanks for the questions! Hope my answers are helpful.

For me,

  • the ability to schedule posts in advance
  • in spaces: tabs for courses linked to the space, and calendar/Fluentbooking events
  • a lot more triggers and actions: for example when someone joins -> send personalized post/or chat

Natascha VantuykomΒ the is exactly right.

What I do:

  • Provide microdosing support with 3 different levels: Foundation (online community using discussion board and courses, includes one monthly group online breathwork session), VIP (includes online community with Signal group), and mastermind (weekly group coaching meetings + VIP + foundations).
  • Breathwork - in-person & online (use community for all of the prep videos so I use a course)
  • Trauma-Informed Certification - moving it to community (previously LearnDash) and utilizing Fluent Forms for testing. Use LD quiz essay option to be the last step before getting their certificate.
  • I have been a web developer for years so I still have some long term clients and other passion projects that I work on. I have clients that are excited to use Community. One is moving everything from LearnDash over to Community because she is also a part of my online community

Features I need:

  • The anonymous posting (which you've seen and have commented on) because most everyone I work with are professionals that do not feel comfortable posting a question about microdosing anywhere.

Features I'd like:

  • Cohort/custom group chats for people that want to create accountability groups.
  • Certificate - Currently using Fluent Forms for the tests and I actually am ok with that. I liked it better than LearnDash and have been using it for awhile. But would like to be able to have a place where they can get their certificate after completing the form/test. I have Academy LMS that I'm still holding on to for the Trauma-Informed Certification if I can't figure out how to get Community to work for what I need.

What I do:

Information, education & community resource platform for natural health healing coaches & practitioners & consumers. We currently offer 3 distinct features:
β€’Β Content - articles on topics
β€’ Professional Directory of natural health doctors in 24 categories (chiropractors, naturopaths, acupuncturists, etc)
β€’ Community to discuss topics privately, without censorship or overlording concerns

What I want from FC and Why:

β€’ Use the current Community Profile, plus an extended Profile ("Directory Listing") for Pro Members
This means Custom Post Types for different pro categories + Custom Fields for each
β€’Β Pro Members get extended profiles (community members get basic)
β€’ Faceted Search, so members can search by location (near me), profession, specialty, etc

Why?

β€’ Replace my Directory plugin with cleaner, superior FC plugin
β€’ Smoother & simpler UX for Members, without an awkward jump between Community & Directory sections of my platform.
β€’ Simpler UX for my Admins & Moderators (= less training)
β€’ Streamlined data consolidation & logging under one user profile, rather than multiple profiles for one User
β€’Β  Simpler integration of all activity, automation, history & more with FluentCRM

I circling back to this post ... what I think is possible in Fluent is more gamification options. For example, setting up automations based on user activity and, for example, opening up a course (or Space) based on activity. I think Skool does this.

Erin WrightΒ Working on this too Erin. Control over leaderboard points and adding things beyond post likes - any action can add to your score. You will be able to unlock things like spaces and courses based on level. Also customising the icons for each level, replacing the basic numbers.

Presto Player : I need Presto functions to view analytics and remove watermarks from Youtube.

Sombri LunaΒ I agree. Love Presto and it's features. Making do with what's available now but hoping that Presto is integrated. A portion of my videos are on YouTube but most are private Bunny. With Presto, it feels seamless as to where it's hosted.
