User login associated with WP User?

Is the Community login (username and password) that of the WP User? I'm asking because when somebody purchases my digital product, they become a WP User (Subscriber).

That customer then gets access to my Thrive Apprentice course area, which is associated with their WP User login.

SO, does my customer use the same login for the community as the course area (based off the WP User)? Or is it separate?

PS...I want my courses in Thrive Apprentice (and not FluentCommunity) for more advanced analytics/features/reporting/functionality.
