Uploading avatar uses space in uploads folder

This is a recap of what I lost when I tried to post because it just sat there for a while.
If one has 40 etc etc users and they all upload an avatar these are added into the uploads folder -> fluent-community folder. Would it not be better if uploading used the standard WP upload from Media Library or folder on the computer? I deleted the uploaded avatar image from the fluent-community folder and noticed a broken image where the avtar should have been.

Adding random avatar
I am exploring using DiceBear in adding a random avatar.
It is partly going well but the only place it does not show up is in the commented post. That shows up blank. Other places the random avatar is seen.
