Theme Compatibility Update!
Finally, we could render WordPress page content right into the FluentCommunity! Still, lots of testing is required. In this example, I am showing WooCommerce my account page right into FluentCommunity.
Maybe I will make a video tomorrow.
Awesome! Given that the notification and search icons are missing at the top right (similar to Roadmap page here and what I've experienced with my own theme), am I correct that this is using a custom theme or page template instead of actually pulling the page content within the SPA?
I'd be happy to test if you need beta testers.
Thanks.
Thomas OatesΒ Good observation! That would be my inclination also.
Thomas OatesΒ We will have that for sure :)
Shahjahan JewelΒ Thanks for the reply, but I'm not sure what you mean. I was asking if this was a custom theme, page template, or a way to pull page content into the SPA.
Thomas OatesΒ No portal slug in the URL either so definitely think this is a theme.
Thomas OatesΒ It's not a theme
Shahjahan JewelΒ Custom page template? Forgive me if I'm asking too many questions. I've been working on our FC site for a while now and a large part of it includes loading existing WP pages inside FC (for which I've built a theme) so I'm really curious how this works to help determine if I should continue down my current path or wait for this feature to be released. Thanks!!!!
Shahjahan JewelΒ awesome!
will those pages be secured under the community?
Shahjahan JewelΒ do you have an answer for that please?
Ramsis KasisΒ These pages are just your regular WordPress pages and rendered in the community layout.
Amazing Cuong ThachΒ
Great to see progress! Look forward to testing. Like Thomas, I would happily test anything out prior to release.
Shahjahan JewelΒ I tried to mention someone but there was no notification.
Hoang HxnΒ It will have everything. No worries
Shahjahan JewelΒ Please Note This, I often find that after updates, notifications are lost when mentioning someone.
Super Shahjahan JewelΒ ! I'm in for beta testing if needed, I was looking exactly for this
Isn't this exactly the other way round?
Here you are displaying the original site correctly in the community, but the community should integrate into the original site. Or did I get that wrong?
Volker KnΓΆringerΒ what would you want to achieve with the reverse? I think a lot of people want a seamless experience for their community members. You are inside the community and want to register for an event or make a purchase.. you can't right now without "leaving" the community and being given a standard wordpress page. This feature allows you to load standard wordpress pages "inside" the community so members don't leave the environment. What part of the community would you want on your main site?
Ross FCAΒ I understand what both you and Volker KnΓΆringerΒ are saying. My brain works more like Volker's.
Volker wants a regular Wordpress site with Fluent Community's entire UI embedded.
Like this: https://help.circle.so/p/sso-and-integrations/iframes/embed-circle-on-my-website
https://community.circle.so/c/product-updates/embed-circle-spaces-on-your-own-website
Fluent Community's team and Ross have created functionality for a Fluent Community that has the pages of the regular Wordpress site visually "embedded" in it.
I have opted to just use Blocksy theme and Fluent Community "alongside" it with a link to access the Fluent Community in the header of the base Wordpress website.
Volker KnΓΆringerΒ I agree. you should be able to show it in your existing WP site. Way more customisation options that way. Also should be able to ditch the whole fluentcommunity profile page and use your own. I want a profile page with all info at one place (comments on WP, reviews, forum posts etc).
Ross FCAΒ Well, my site already has the design I want and that means fonts, css... is all in place. In my head it's therefor the most economic way to use all of that, instead of adding complexity and code.
Well, damn. First, I love this demo and look forward to seeing the production implementation. Second, I just wrote my FluentCommunity review and mentioned that this doesn't work. I guess I'll have to make an update with this ship.
Ross FCAΒ I gave you a shout-out for your Addons in my review article, too.
William BeemΒ Thanks so much William, that's really appreciated :)
how about the other way around?
I'd like people on my regular membership website to be able to use a Messages chat, or view a forum thread, or access a course, without having to leave and enter the /portal area. Is that possible now?
Lee BuschΒ I believe so. Chat, Discussions, and Courses all exist within the portal.
William BeemΒ I want to put these features on regular site pages, and NOT within the /portal area.
Lee BuschΒ Sorry, I misunderstood and presumed something incorrect. Not sure if FluentChat will work outside of the community, but take a look at Better Messages to see if it can do what you want. As far as reading a forum thread or a course, I doubt that's going to work unless you use other products.
This update will be amazing!!!
Love it!
Neat idea, but I don't understand why you don't simply introduce a "page" type/feature coming directly from FluentCommunity? We could add our content on it with the editor you already provide at multiple places, and that's it. Think similar to a "wiki page".
Why would I import the default theme stuff/styling etc into my community, just for showing some text/images or rendering a shortcode (e.g. to display FluentBoards roadmap inside the community)?
Right now, the community is separated from the default WP site when it comes to its content, which makes totally sense. So why not having a "page" content type here? The courses and spaces are also NOT visible or manageable in the WP admin dashboard.
Florian D.Β hey Florian, this is how my Pages for FC plugin will work. It aims to be a simple page builder just for creating static community pages, and doesn't try to somehow cater for every style/theme/script that external themes and shortcodes would bring.
https://fluentcommunityaddons.com/portal/pages/hello-world
You can see it in action here and can note the URL is still in the portal and brings a /pages/ page type.
Ross FCAΒ awesome work! Indeed expecting this built-in this plugin.
Ross FCAΒ How did you manage to make fluentcommunity the default home page? I wanted to do this
Bryan WilliamΒ It's not on mine actually. I use the /portal/ slug. My homepage is a normal wordpress page using my fluent community theme. If you just want regular fluent community as your home page you can use my Quick Fixes plugin.
This is what i was waiting for!
Shahjahan JewelΒ You mentioned making a video showing this. Is that still planned? Thanks.
Thomas OatesΒ I got side-tracked with some improvements. Will try to make a video tomorrow.
Shahjahan JewelΒ Thanks!!
Amazing! WHEN!? :D
Would like to have each space of fluent community to have its own shortcode and be able to insert those however I choose on my site using my prefered theme/page-builder
Christophe PasquierΒ This is what I'm hoping for too.
This is soo good! When is it coming out ? :)
hello Shahjahan JewelΒ any update on this topic? any release date plan? Thank you!
Giorgio LucianiΒ it is relased
Edoardo GuzziΒ thank you Edoardo!
