Tagging community members

Can we use the "@" to tag community members when posting?

Mat β€Ž

Curtis BrooksΒ you can tag a user in a post/comment here by typing @ sign and then without any space type:

  • First two letters of the user First Name - in your case your First Name starts with: "Cu.. "
  • First letters of the User Name - in you case it your userName is: "its"

From the popup bubble you select the user you want to tag etc.

Ps. If tagging doesn't work on your community just share the plugin version you use so it might be easier to verify if we are using the same version.

Mat β€ŽΒ On my website, tagging someone doesn't send them an email despite everyone having mention emails turned on. Any way to fix this that you know of?

Jonathan JerniganΒ did you configure your hosting cronjob so it works independent?

Related Documentation: Setting up Server Side CRON job for WordPress

Note: if you use wp-cron only then some WP actions are being triggered only when someone is visiting your website so just to avoid this case scenario it is recommended to use a hosting cron jobs.

I assume you also use any SMTP plugin (like FluentSMTP) and external ESP (example: AWS SES) with it and all other emails are being sent from your WP to you or your users when you check the SMTP plugin logs right?

Edit note: I read this post about the issue and it looks like the issue was not being resolved yet. It is really strange because even the app notification for being mentioned doesn't show correct data example: I see that I was mentioned 9 days ago which might not be true (unless I was tagged in ylthe reply above in some other, automatic way instead of manuall tagging - sic!).

Note: this issue might be linked to the latest plugin version 1.1.21 which was released exactly 9 days ago.

Raiyan MarzanΒ could you please verify why tagging users doesn't trigger emails notifications as it is described here

Also could you please confirm if users should also get email notifications when they are being logged to the community and already were notified about being tagged by the app notification (or in this case the email notification is not being send. Note: app notifocations also have some delays so it might be more complex case to investigate I guess).

What is the default delay for email notification between a user being tagged in a post vs the email notification is being send to that user. If

If there is any default delay can the Admin change it in any way or not because it is linked to the cron job queue etc. Give us some hint or explanation please if possible.

Thanks for the quick response! πŸ‘

Curtis BrooksΒ here is a small bonus... you can format a text in your post by using the Slash Command.

Just Press / sign on your keyboard when you are at the New line in your post and you will see a secret Formatting Text bubble menu - select formatting type (example: quotr) and enter your text after.

Cheers!

Mat β€ŽΒ Where can I translate that menu, Text, Heading 2 ... etc. into another language?
I can't seem to find it....

Mat β€Ž

EdΒ I don't think it is possible to translate text on the popup bubbles yet but I am sure Raiyan MarzanΒ will take care of it so we don't need to bother the Papa Ninja.

Mat β€ŽΒ
This is a great function.
Unfortunately, when I use this function in the comments, the menu is not completely visible.
In this case, the menu should expand upwards.

Mat β€Ž

AndrΓ© SalierΒ yes there is an issue with z-index

Curtis Brooks

Thank you!!!
