Suggestion for Subgroups in FluentCommunity for Better Space Organization 🌟

Hi everyone,

I’ve been exploring FluentCommunity and noticed that for those who need to create a large number of spaces, the current organization system could be improved.

Currently, we have groups, and within those groups, we can organize spaces. However, it would be incredibly helpful if we could also have subgroups within groups, and then spaces inside those groups and/or subgroups.

This added layer of organization would make it much easier to manage and navigate for those building communities with a lot of spaces. It could provide better clarity and structure, especially for large-scale projects.

What do you think? Would subgroups be a useful feature for you as well? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! 😊

Thanks! πŸš€

Sounds like a good idea, I like! However, I assume that a toggle feature (something like a expandable/collapsable ">" symbol) for the sidebar menu would be easier and faster to deploy for the dev-team.

The ability to organize spaces into groups and allow them to expand via toggle icons would help to organize large number of spaces tremendously.

I'm working on a university project that will include over 1,000 courses, each as an individual space. Organizing such a large number of spaces effectively is a challenge, and I believe introducing subgroups in addition to groups could greatly improve usability.

For example:

  • Group: "Areas of Study"
  • Subgroups: Engineering, Management, Sciences, etc. (like in the attached image).
  • Spaces: Each course under its respective subgroup.

This structure would make the menu much cleaner and easier to navigate. Without subgroups, all spaces are lumped into groups, which can make the menu overcrowded and harder to use for larger-scale projects.

If subgroups were available, I could streamline the menu significantly, providing a better experience for members of communities with many spaces.

I think the topics will be fine. Will work as subjects , but should there ease way to search about specific subject from tone of the subjects

Adding related link for the fTeam so they can follow

Space Channels (Pro) - it would be nice to streamline posts into Channels created by Admin where users can submit subject specific posts. Currently we have everything in one long conversation and it is hard to track subjects.
