Static page in Fluent Community

Is there a way to create a static page and keep it within the community like your Roadmap page?

It is possible with FC addons

Bob

Ioannis GlossopoulosΒ There is little information on the FC add-ons site about that particular add-on. It just goes to a page to download it. Do you know if you can a custom page with Bricks and then integrate it into FC?

BobΒ you can join the community, the site is in progress. For more info Ross FCAΒ

Ross FCA

BobΒ The Pages add-on is free so you can download and give it a go. It will give you the option to add static pages as a /page/ route - you can then add these to your menus as custom links. You build the page itself with the block editor but just make sure you only use fcom compatible blocks. Example:
https://fluentcommunityaddons.com/portal/page/hello-world

Bob

Ross FCAΒ Awesome, thanks! I'm using Bricks Builder so would I be able to design the page in Bricks and it will render correctly with this?

Ross FCA

BobΒ No unfortunately not. Nothing is compatible by default and I've only created a few blocks for gutenberg. Page builders comes with a ton of style sheets, javascript, custom classes etc which don't work with fcom.

Bob

Ross FCAΒ Ah ok. Thanks.

Jeff Brigman

BobΒ I actually have an integration I made specifically for bricks to resolve the issue with the builder and front end layout.

I will be releasing it soon in my plugin Plus for FluentCommunity.

I built this specifically because I use bricks and was unhappy with how poorly FCom worked with it.

Bob

Jeff BrigmanΒ Interesting. I saw that Bricks was supported in the 'theme compatibility' doc but good to know that it's not working too well.

Jeff Brigman

BobΒ  very loosely supported. As is you can’t use the builder with their templates, you have to build then switch to it. There’s also a lot styling that gets stripped so a lot of things don’t display properly.

The integration I coded fixes all of this and removes the bricks header/footer from the builder since you’re not using it and puts an edit button on pages built with bricks when you’re logged in as an admin.

Bob

Jeff BrigmanΒ Let me know when you have more info and it's available. Thanks.

You can add any page to the community using the Theme Compatibility Feature

https://fluentcommunity.co/docs/theme-compatibility-feature/

Jonathan GwyerΒ Hi sir,
I’ve tried using this feature, but I noticed an issue where the search in the header looks messy. Do you know how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Jonathan Gwyer

Raffless Antonio BeayΒ you're using the FC Addons Global Search, I think?

You'll need to feed that back to Ross FCAΒ but it looks like you need some CSS

Bob

Jonathan GwyerΒ Interesting! I'll check that out. Thanks.

Jonathan Gwyer

BobΒ I use it a lot on https://buildyour.community/

Bob

Jonathan GwyerΒ So is your articles resource an example of you adding in a custom post type/blog into the FC wrapper?

Jonathan Gwyer

BobΒ yes, Home, To Do List & Get Started are just normal pages, Articles is all posts. A couple more CPTs are planned for the future.

Bob

Jonathan GwyerΒ Awesome! I couldn't see getting started because I'm not part of the community. I just figured that the articles section were blog posts and not part of FC.

Jonathan Gwyer

Bob you're welcome to join 😁

Jonathan GwyerΒ Thanks a lot. I’ll try it out, but I’m still a beginner
would you be able to help explain it? thank you

Jonathan Gwyer

Raffless Antonio Beay if you send me the URL to your site, I'm happy to look and see if I can give you some CSS to make the search look better 😊
