SpaceEvents - Current Features & Roadmap

One big question I keep being asked is what features are included in the current beta version and what is planned for the future. So I have updated the Feature List and Product Roadmap here https://tribetools.pro/spaceevents/#features which I hope will help? You will see most things are already Live and likely only need minor tweaks to make everything ready for the stable version.
The main Features:-
✅ Create and manage events within individual Spaces. This is key, Space only events have native Link within the space menu and follow the spaces permissions and privacy.
✅ Public Events option for community-wide visibility. You can also run full site-wide events separately or alongside Space only events, giving you full control over where events can be added and seen.
✅ Full attendee tracking with registration management.
✅ Export attendee lists as CSV or PDF.
✅ Flexible permission controls — decide who can create, edit, and manage events.
✅ Site Admin Dashboard for a complete overview of all events.
✅ Clean, intuitive interface that fits naturally within FluentCommunity

Hi Ross FCA, thanks for the question. I'd love to have a chat with you about this (I have sent you a DM and hope we can talk 🙏).
Some background — I've been working with events and event management websites for over 10 years, mostly using WordPress, I also run a number of BuddyPress communities/groups for clients with custom event integration. The clients have expressed an interest in moving to FluentCommunity as BP has sadly lacked the attention it really deserves of late, but to move to FC they need events.
I did purchase FCA Events addon (v0.1.3) last year as it looked very promising, but Ross, as you know form my testing, comments and emails, v0.3.6 (the last version I tested) still lacked a lot of the functionality my clients required. So after discussing with the clients I decided to investigate creating my own addon, with the intention of making it available as an alternative event addon to the wider FluentCommunity.
I can 100% assure you, I have not in anyway copied or used any of your codebase - I would never do that. Any similarity is purely due to the fact FC has a certain look/design, and for the events part, they must to have certain information, that's what make them events.

I'm curious David, if you always had this ability, why spend so much time with my add-on? If due to your extensive plugin background you were 18 days from having a custom solution, why bother with mine at all?
The front end design is the most straightforward part of building in fcom, you'd know that being an expert. Although you have included a few of my personal flourishes :).
The thing with fcom, and Vibe Code will attest to this, is you can't just one-shot an AI plugin for it. AI doesn't understand the context, doesn't know the fcom structure or how the hooks and filters work. I spent months (prior to cursor, claud, the fcom dev docs) painstakingly unpicking everything through trial and error to get to a point where I can now successfully create any custom /route.
Are you really going to sit there and claim that you did not feed any of my code into AI? You didn't shortcut my hard work? You didn't see my development issues with Events and saw an opportunity to take advantage and make a quick buck?
The code isn't even important to me. It's wordpress, it's open to all, do what you want with it. The fact you presented yourself as an active an contributing member of my community, joined my private alpha testing group, tested my Events add-on thoroughly, then sneakily built your own and promoted here behind my back, that's what's upset me. Just pure human indecency.
Business is business. You've made a business decision here and I wish you all the best. I fully support everyone's development and am always interested to see what folks like Wilson, the two Jeff's, VibeCode, Nelson Miller etc - lots of cool stuff is being built and sometimes features will overlap, but competition is good and choice is great for consumers. The idea of a rival Events plugin is not a problem for me. The sneaky and underhanded way you've gone about it though, is.
This is a really niche product and all if its users are community focused. There's a pretty narrow userbase here and from the sounds of things you're now trying to establish yourself as a fluentcommunity addon developer (great work after 3 weeks!). Not to blow my own trumpet but I've been at this a long time now, I'm a very active and respected member of this community. This decision of yours seems really shortsighted to me.
All the best with your products, I hope you are able to build trust with your customers and you are ready to be extremely active and involved as you aim to meet their variety of needs :)
The beauty of coding is creativity, thinking outside the box, creating your own, making your imagination come to live.
This hurt, for a developer to go through hell of a process in creating an addon for fluent community isn't easy, as it is built using Vue spa and php hooks.
Kindly go through the community to always make sure the addon you're trying to create has not been created before.

WiLson Eberechi agree, but there are many many different event plugnis for WordPress, all slightly different but all serving events and the ability for users to book in one form or another.
I honestly didn't want to upset anyone, that's not what I do, but I did need an event solution, so I decided to create my own and learnt a lot of cool stuff along the way - I'm not going to debate it, I've stated it above, SpaceEvents is my own code, I have NOT analysed or used anyone else’s code!
Sadly I have now been blocked from using FCA - so the other addons I was using no longer work! So I will now have to find other solutions, or create my own - I am sure I will be criticised for doing that as well 😕
WiLson Eberechi agreed Wilson. I've had a lot of fun and lots of stress with trial and error and unpicking this. I've seen you guys do the hard work too, I know how hard it was for you to even get a view count showing on a post for example. I've seen you iterate and improve and listen to feedback and be proud of what you've built. I'm proud of you too. Hard work pays off and I hope it does for you.
David Churchill I'm not sure why you're acting naive. Surely at this point you just own it? Are you saying that during all the encouragement from your partner at no point did you discuss the ethics of what you were doing? You could have made your own solution for your client and both you and they would be happy. If you learned loads doing that then great! There's lots of opportunity here. You could have taken your knowledge and built something new. But you didn't. Or couldn't.
You can keep saying you didn't "copy code" all you like. If you want us all to believe your 10 years of installing wordpress plugins meant you could whip up an extremely similar plugin to the one you've been testing in only 3 weeks, then I'm offended you think we're that daft.
Again, what did you think would happen? You seem intelligent so I'm confused what you thought the outcome of this would be? That I would just leave you in my community to continue your pilfering? You didn't even mention it to me but you thought I'd just be totally cool with it? I'm so so confused by your reaction.
This would be like if youre a regular at a local pub and you reach over and pour a pint from their taps into your own brand glass and try to peddle it to the locals for a premium price. Would you be surprised if the barman asked what you were playing at and barred you? Or would you understand you made a poor ethical choice and disrespected someone.
Ross FCA I get you are upset and I am sorry, I know I cannot change that — but I genuinely have not used or reference one single line of your code. The libraries, css and resources I have used are all freely available online. I don't know what else to say, unless there's something specific, I really don't see any point continuing this discussion.
Ross FCA everything you are saying is in every way valid in the current scenario. I am surprised at the swiftness of the other person in creating a plugin and offering to sell that so hastily ... no any visible contribution to the community.... and then suddenly lo and behold, there is a plugin for sale from the one who is testing your plugin as a customer .... the haste and the race and the love for the reward....no comments. Here, alongside you, I am deeply impressed by the generous contribution by Jeff Brigman ...I can see how generously you were (and are) contributing before offering any premium extensions... I am equally impressed with Vibe Code vcode for his generosity... The universe rewards those who give first....instead of hurrying to sell ....again no comments....words at their randomness....
arjun arjun I totally agree Arjun. I am obviously personally hurt by the choice, but I am also disappointed as a community member. I try to give to this community, and in time and in turn, it gives back to me. I do not take. I am fortunate to have a vibrant community of my own (built on that philosophy) and so have taken a personal stance to rarely if ever promote my paid plugins here. I have so so many exciting things that would interest lots on here, but it's behind a paywall and this is not a marketing forum. There's a good few active developers in here who are giving to the community, and I am happy to see the community give back to them and rewarding them for their efforts. Completely ignoring the questions around its originality, half of David's total posts are about his plugin.
Ross FCA agree as well. Me and you have talked some, and you even helped me with some info I needed on the licensing aspect with FluentCart.
I scan the communities to try to avoid creating something that someone else has or if they are working on it. There will be some overlap which is fine, but I get a little suspicious with things like this.
I submitted my plugin Linked Terms to the WP repository and decided to make it completely free with premium features.... hopefully they review it soon. I made that choice because honestly the integration with FCom makes it a little more niche and I found that I can use it on some personal projects also.

Ross FCA ain't nobody going to buy his single plugin that especially solves what you already solve. At least unless he builds infrastructure and many more innovative plugins, proves his next level skills or something, gains trust etc...

SpaceEvents Beta-2 is now available 👍
Lots of updates, including:-
- Added Countdown Timer on upcoming events so attendees can see exactly when the event starts (can be enabled/disabled as default and on a per-event basis).
- Added Cross-Posting Controls — new admin setting to keep Space events and Public events cleanly separated, or allow cross-posting between them. Off by default.
- Fixed permission issues during the Event creation. e.g. if Cross-Posting is enabled, "Post to public feed" options are only available if the space is Public. This means the public event options are disabled for Private and Secret spaces.
- Fixed permission issue where Public Events were not showing on the Public Events page properly.
- Updated the Attendee registration (RSVP) and cancelation process to make it easier for members to join and leave events.
- Updated the Waitlist process, if Capacity and Waitlist are enabled on an event, attendees who join the waitlist are now automatically added when a space becomes available.
- Updated and added new options for Event Organiser. Organisers can now Add and Remove Attendees from the Attendee tab.
- Updated Virtual event options, now includes: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, GoToMeeting, Jitsi Meet, Zoho Meeting, Discord, YouTube Live, Twitch, Vimeo Livestream, Webinar and Other. Virtual options also include: Meeting URL, Meeting ID, Passcode, Dial-in Numbers and Joining instructions.
- Redesign of the Dashboard, it's now easier to access all sections within the SpaceEvents Admin (All Events, Add and Edit Event, Categories and Settings).
- Added plain-text Email Templates to override all email content. Templates include a full list of custom {tags} for all aspects of the Event. The email templates currently include: Booking Confirmation, New Booking Alert, Cancellation Confirmation, Cancellation Alert, Event Reminder (triggered 24 hours before the event), Waitlist Confirmation, Waitlist Promotion and Removal Notification. Rich-text templates are planned for Beta-3.
- Added language support, includes US and UK English — you can use something like Loco Translate to now translate all aspects of SpaceEvents.
- Plus a number of other minor tweaks, updates and improvements.
Yessss this plugin saved FC for me! I desperately need an event plugin that also shows in Spaces! Is there a way us to mark the person as attended? Not a big deal but we do have to mark people off as attended and this would help.
What would really take you over the edge in the future is QR Code scan to check in, Paid Ticket Events, ability to chat or comment within the event and share pictures!

Ashley Harrison interesting, I have "user = attended" on my todo list. QR code/check in is also possible, but I'll need to have a think about how best to make it work.
I'm planning to release a new update this week, with a lot of improvements — recurring and repeating events, better RSVP, FlunetCRM support and much much more 👍
David Churchill awesome! I bought this and checked it out and it is absolutely perfect so far! I’m exhausted, I’ve been trying every event plugin with Buddy Boss last month and then transitioned to this app and tried the other event plugin and it was not quite there. But your flow for this plugin is awesome, very clean, very straightforward. It does what I need, the Space Events is awesome.
I highly recommend this plugin, it’s a game changer. This plugin officially puts FC above BuddyBoss, Mighty and Circle.
