SpaceBuddy (Free) now available - Icons, PWA & Push Notifications
I've just launched SpaceBuddy, a free hub for my add-ons for FlunetCommunity. SpaceBuddy gives you one dashboard to discover, install and update my add-on Packs. Three Packs are available today, with more already visible as Coming Soon on the dashboard.
To get started, download for free, install and activate the license (required to control access to the packs and updates).
IconPack β a browsable library of 1,200+ icons, that you can easily access inside FluentCommunity's own portal/admin area
- Easily select icons when adding or editing Spaces, Courses, and Links without leaving the screen
- Outline and bold styles, copy any icon as clean inline SVG (no more emojis)
- Everything bundled β zero CDN calls, nothing loads from anyone else's server
PWAPack β turns your community into an installable app.
- Full web app manifest with icons at every size browsers and iOS actually ask for (maskable included)
- Offline page and smart caching - works for community-only or full-website if required
- Install banner, an install card in the community menu, and a step-by-step guide for iPhone, iPad and non-Chromium Android browsers
- App colours that follow your community's light and dark modes
- Options to customise the text and messages
PushPack β real web Push Notifications, no third-party provider, no fees.
- Posts, comments, @mentions, thread replies, reactions, new followers (FC Pro) and DMs
- Notifications are encrypted, direct from your website to each member's browser
- Member opt-in card in the menu plus opt in/out options in the Members notification settings page
- iOS iPhone and iPad are supported through the installed PWA App β either use PWAPack or FluentCommunity's own PWA
Compatibility with FluentCommunity 2.8 and its PWA β yes, I know how the timing looks, and I'll probably get some flack for it π but I've been using PWAPack and PushPack on my own site for a while. Alongside the manifest, PWAPack uses a service worker which allows better offline support and caching, and it's what allows Push Notifications to work. The text and messages are all customisable and translatable too. PWAPack will check if FC's PWA is active and show a warning, as they would both try to provide the PWA app. An honest comment, if you prefer FC's PWA, my PushPack will happily deliver push notifications through it, so just use whichever suits you π
Everything is translatable and should work as expected, I spend a lot of time testing by hand, on real sites, real phones and real members, before shipping (no AI slop!). I will always offer support for all my products (free or paid), so if you spot any errors or have any issues, please tell me and I'll fix it asap.
Some screenshots, more available on my website - full docs coming soon.

Nice work. 1 website 1 licence, right?
Arif HossainΒ correct - although I think I might just remove that restriction in the next update.
David ChurchillΒ Please
David ChurchillΒ I tested it on two of my websites, and Iβm going to test it on one more. Itβs working amazingly well. I had previously built the PWA using custom code, but this works incredibly well. And the push notifications are just π₯.
Arif HossainΒ you key should now work on unlimited websites.
David ChurchillΒ Lovely π Iβve already created two. Which one do you mean?
Arif HossainΒ both - I have change all to unlimited, so up to you which one you use π
When you say you have switched to unlimited websites, you only mean for SpaceBuddy? Or also SpaceEvents?
This is my first time looking at your website.
I only see SpaceBuddy and SpaceEvents and Space Events is offering between 1 site and 5 sites.
Am I understanding what I am seeing?
Jon Davis Jr.Β hi, yes just SpaceBuddy (as itβs free). I do offer 5 site licenses for SpaceEvents and lifetime if youβre interested π
I have just changed SpaceBuddy so all licenses can be used on unlimited number of websites. Any issues, please let me know.
David ChurchillΒ Thank you so much
Something I forgot to mention β if you use SpaceEvents, the next update will include an option to send push notifications for reminders when PushPack is enabled. Could be useful for nudging people about virtual events, or just general reminders alongside the existing emails.
Just shipped version 1.0.2 of SpaceBuddy, PWAPack and PushPack β all bug fixes, all from customer reports. Highlights: every member-facing PushPack string is now translatable (sorry missed a few), Android badges show as a proper silhouette instead of a grey blob, dark mode fixed, and PWAPack's service worker is simpler and safer. Update SpaceBuddy first, then the Packs π
Found a bug? Tell me and I'll fix it ASAP.
