Smarter weekly Notification E-Mail

Am I the only one who finds the weekly E-Mail not smart enough? Often I get informed about my own postings, which is quite nonsense under the heading "You might have missed this" πŸ˜€

My wishes:

  • Feature only the posts which are unread by me. Don't send a mail of there are none.
  • Have a smarter subject line, e.g. "Rolf, you missed 3 topics, 22 answers and 2 direct messages."
  • I wan't to be able to send / receive the mail also daily instead of weekly. This is useful for forums for working teams.

Kind regards,
Rolf

Completely appreciate what you're saying, but just to counter, I quite like seeing my own posts in these digest emails knowing that everyone else is getting the same thing. Adds another layer of recognition and validation for community contributions. Especially for larger communities where you're not seeing everything, it's a cool way to find out your posts was one of the most active that week.

Ross FCAΒ Thank you for your view. I personally rather think the system is dumb when I get such emails - especially on smaller communities. I think, notification E-Mail is crucial for the success of a community, therefore it should have maximum relevance. Being notified about my own stuff doesn't serve that goal, I think.

Rolf KrΓΌgerΒ absolutely, I think your stance is probably the more logical one. Definitely for a daily email anyway.

Push notifications are more valuable for community success in my opinion. Do you notice increased activity after your email goes out?
