Should I go with these settings? π°π«£
Especially, Vultr server backup at $4/month? Or is there an alternate solution?
PS: I hope I'm doing everything right in the settings? π My target audience is global but mainly in the US & Canada. So, Gemini says Chicago will be the best option.
TIA! π
We talked about this π
Thatβs for full server back up (restore the whole server: all The settings and sites).
Eg.: if you are coming from a shared hosting I assume you just have one site.
Then you may want to do full remote backups at a site level. You have this in the settings of our sites > backups.
XCloud (and Vultr itself) allow you to save those copies on remote or local. To your preferences (eg.: Drive, Cloudflare, etc). - no cost-. Just take into account you will have to set the backups. If you miss that, you will not have any backups π€. Just make sure to set them and youβre done. And if you want to restore everything in the server go for the $4/month.
PD.: from your picture you seem to be going to select NGinx. Nothing wrong there. But we have some troubles with it coming from OLS. So, better check if your previous server was OLS too. And keep with it. For Wordpress, stats says itβs better. BUT, itβs also true, the ninjas recommend NGinx.
PD. Location: you may want to select the server that is closer to your main market. But that does not mean itβs not going to work globally :)
Jorge de los ReyesΒ Thanks again for your detailed response, Jorge! You're a gem of a person! π
And yes, you know what, I did go back to your comments today while setting this thing up. π Not sure how I missed this backup thing, but thanks again for your insights. π
Regarding the NGINX thing, I very well remember what you said. Then, I double-checked with ChatGPT too (by providing it all the context), and ChatGPT recommended NGINX. π
To be honest, I'm building this whole community from scratch, with no previous infrastructure. So, not sure if that matters!
But I appreciate all your insights! Thanks a ton, buddy! ππ
The GSΒ happy yo see how youβre step by step advancing in your plan! π
Iβd not worry about OLS/Nginx.
Chat GPT appears to be a traitor. I remember, long time ago, asking the same π. And debating specs. And finally it was the XCloud team the one who guided me to OLS. (Appears to be the most selected by their customers).
Also, we are happy for years using LiteSpeed cache plugin on our sites, to manage everything related to cache. With no problem to the date. And Iβm not sure what could substitute it while using Nginx.
I also remember, that in this debates, the techies told me Nginx was more suited for static sites and not if you serve dynamic content (which I havenβt the foggiest if itβs true or not - the traitor seems to agree though π).
Iβm sure you will be okey either your choice!
You know the saying: better done than perfect.
You have plenty of time to make changes. But businesses, specially online, love speed :)
Jorge de los ReyesΒ I love this! Thank you so much for your constant guidance, support, and encouragement. Much appreciated! π
Sorry, never heard of your hosting. I use hostinger which has been really reliable. Knownhost.com also offers high quality hosting with 24hr support π if i were to ever max out my hosting needs, then knownhost would be my next step.
I think you don't need full server backup in Vultr (that $4). xCloud has a site backup feature.
Shahjahan JewelΒ Thank you so much, Shahjahan! I appreciate your response β in fact, I love how you're so active in the community! π
