Sequential Lesson Access / Lesson Locking Based on Completion Status

I realized that when checking the progress of single students in a course dashboard, the progress-bar/percentage is not reflecting the real status. Many students don't mark lessons as "Complete lesson", because they can easily navigate to all upcoming lessons using the arrow-icons, or by simply clicking on the next lesson shown in the course-sidebar.

Hence, I would like to suggest a feature that would significantly improve the course experience for both administrators and participants:

Sequential Lesson Access (Lesson Locking)

Currently, enrolled users can view and navigate through all lessons within a course, regardless of whether they have marked previous lessons as "Completed." For many educational use cases, it would be beneficial to restrict access to subsequent lessons until all previous lessons have been marked as completed by the user.

Proposed Functionality:

Lessons (and optionally sections) are locked by default.
A lesson only becomes accessible (visible/unlocked) once all prior lessons have been marked as "Completed."
Students can open upcoming lessons, but only title (maybe an excerpt) and "Please complete your previous lessn" will be displayed. Optionally, an admin setting to enable/disable this sequential progression feature per course.

Benefits:

Ensures learners follow the intended course structure and progression.
Increases engagement and completion rates.
Provides a more guided and structured learning experience.

Admins on the other hand find the students progress more precise.

Thank you for considering this feature. I believe it would be a valuable addition for many users of FluentCommunity.

Have lovely day,
Sascha

Yes, this is a critical feature. We need to ensure that students go through the course sequentially. The model is like a TV show with a weekly plot twist: I want them coming back each week for the next lesson, having practiced the homework during each week so they're ready for the next lesson, which builds upon the previous. I don't want all lessons to be immediately accessible, in any order.

Yes, +1000 to this! Sequential drip option!
