Re-writing our Messaging Addon
Our team is rewriting the whole messaging module, and my first impression is just WOW! The new version will be super fast, super responsive and we are planning to add the floating UI as well.
We are also exploring the real-time messaging like twitter / fb.
We are going to push the limit.
Looking great! Thank you ninjas ππ₯·
Yesssssss !
Good.
Please be sure to include more moderation controls and the ability to delete and/or archive message threads.
Jeff BrigmanΒ yes.
Shahjahan JewelΒ thank you, I had just started tweaking the existing one but will stop.
Jeff BrigmanΒ Yah, that will be better.
Interesting. I wonder if I switch back from Better Messages if I lose anyone's discussions. I'd presume it uses a different store for messages than yours.
William BeemΒ yes. They use separate database tables. Better Messages is also a great addon.
Shahjahan JewelΒ Maybe we should think about general import or migration tools too. Better Messages is just one example, and there might be more in the future. Itβs probably smarter to prepare early β ideally the migration framework should cover the whole ecosystem, not just Messaging. Hard to predict what weβll need later on.
That is exciting!
Nice!!! ππ
Looking forward... Thanks
Thank you
Are we going to have the video chat soon ?
Dany TetreaultΒ I don't think so.
Great, now can we have a roadmap with eta for each feature?
ok no answer. Can I know what's the eta of the event feature at least? it was the next feature planned.
No answer at all, good to know
Shahjahan JewelΒ
Congratulations on this upcoming improvement!
This sounds amazing! Since you are rewriting the module, could you please consider adding sound notifications?
To make it perfect, users should be able to:
- Toggle sound ON/OFF in their settings.
- Choose between a few different sounds (to customize their experience).
This would perfectly complement the new floating UI and the real-time experience you are building!
This is a specific feature request from my community users during our beta test.
Claudy ScoufyΒ better still: browser notifications while on other sites (when tab is not in focus).
There should be a system of access control: For example, specifying which level is required to chat.
Hoang HxnΒ agreed, this is a good way to prevent spamming from fly-by-night new accounts.
Hoang HxnΒ Problem solved.
Shahjahan JewelΒ fantastic! Now THAT is impressive turnaround.
By the way, if one was interested in becoming a beta tester for FluentCRM, how would I apply? I have licenses for almost every product you sell, but FluentCRM is the one I use most.
Shahjahan JewelΒ Love how this solves spam at the root, not just the surface.
Point-based access control is a smart move β it protects conversations and nudges members to earn trust through real engagement.
It also makes sense for a web app where notifications rely heavily on email, helping reduce wasted resources and unnecessary email sends from low-quality or spam accounts.
If extended to posts and comments, this could turn messaging into a true gamified growth loop for the community.
Hoang HxnΒ +1
π Keep up the awesome work Jewel and Team!
I hope for voice messages, that is the main reason why I am using better-messages plugin
That sounds awesome β really excited about this update! π
One feature Iβd love to see added is the ability to share documents and media inside messages, like PDFs, presentations, videos, and other files. That would make conversations even more useful.
Canβt wait to see the new update β great work by the team!
RIGHT ON.
Great improvement. Is it just a UI refresh or is it a security/privacy improvement as well?
Shahjahan JewelΒ When you click on the "People Who Have Replied" section, it doesn't scroll to the original message where they replied.

Sounds great!
One thing I would like to suggest is related specifically to the messaging inside the Courses Section.
I need to assign tasks for lessons so that students can submit their homework in text along with attachments, such as Office files, images, videos, or Figma links, as Fit Lehrer suggested here above.
Users should have the option to hide their homework submissions from other participants and discuss them privately with curators only.
Please add an option to pause course progress until homework is reviewed and marked complete by the course curators.
Awesome!
Shahjahan JewelΒ Instead of a sticky button, you can use a floating button like intercom or an X (Twitter). When the pop-up window remains floating, there's an "X" at the end to help users understand when to close the chat window π
Oh, this is looking very nice. Look forward to the updated version. What would also be very cool is if something like fluent booking could be integrated into chat. That way students can book sessions while conversing with the instructor.
Would be great to add bulk messaging as an option as well.
Shahjahan JewelΒ Messages containing links cannot be clicked to open directly.
Hoang HxnΒ yes. I noticed that as well. We will add clickable feature.
Shahjahan JewelΒ π
Shahjahan JewelΒ Below posts or comments in community spaces, instead of just a Like button, add other reactions like in the current message.
--> Additionally, we cannot yet use "@" to message someone in a group chat.
Message button suggestion:
Shahjahan JewelΒ Are you considering to add this module in FluentBoard in future update!
You guys are AMAZING. I LOVE IT. I'm so happy I found you when I did <3
