Quiz - Enforce Pass To Continue

How is the Enforce Pass To Continue feature supposed to work?

Let's say I have a Course with the enrollment type Self Paced.

I have created many Sections and Lessons.

In the middle of my first section, I have a Quiz, with the "Set A Passing Grade" selected (pass = 50%) and the "Enforce pass to continue" selected.

I would expect that if "Enforce pass to continue" is selected, then all lessons after that quiz in the index would be restricted with some sort of message on the front end like "You must pass previous quizzes to continue."

Is that not the case?
