Quick Learndash question... auto enroll to space after enrollment.
I am new to Fluent but have been working with Learndash and Themeco PRO since they both were released. Unlimited license for both and have no plans of leaving either. I came across FluentCommunity the other day on my quest to find a reliable, robust but light forum solution. I am loving FluentCommunity. I see solutions for getting Learndash course members into a private space if the enrollment is not too high. But what am I missing that would enable automation for Learndash course members (over 400) to get auto enrolled into a private space?
Since I am new to Fluent (dang, i have been stuck in my comfort of tools/plugins I have loved and relied on for years and had no idea about Fluent plugins) I am thinking the answer lies in maybe FluentCRM?? Could someone lead me in the right direction as this is key to me. I do not want to miss the lifetime 50 sites license as I try to find this on my own. Thank you! How do you plan on integrating FluentCommunity with LearnDash? i.e comments within lessons and receiving notifications?
Morgan McArthur Hi Morgan, I do not want the community IN the course itself. But I do want it fully integrated with the website itself. Everyone is so tired of FB groups and I have never liked any of the buddy boss or what has been out there. I have always left one lesson for each course (courses are all closed) that is a Community Lesson, with the comments open. But with FluentCommunity, you can just create a GROUP specifically for the LD course members and then break that into spaces to house discussions, like Week One (Module One) Space, Module Two Space etc. That all members of that GROUP (for that specific course) can access. They would receive notifications from FluentCommunity. They already receive notifications for courses and woo-commerce. (all transactional)

As for your previous response, now that you have FC and plan to create a group specifically for a LD course and then break that into spaces to house discussions.
Are you still going to leave the course lesson comments open? I ask as course comments have always been popular, however these comments wont have the same look and feel and integrate with FC for notifications etc.
Fyi.. I am currently on LearnDash and in two minds if I should integrate FC into my site and keep learnDash or just use FC and their LMS. The LMS for FC as you know is rather basic.
Morgan McArthur Hi Morgan! I only ever kept the comments open on the first lesson called, Community. That lesson was always opened for students the minute they joined a course. While the rest of the lessons would not open until actual Live Day. That lesson was used by students for any questions they had before the rest of the course goes live. We never launched facebook groups until the main lessons were live. either. I would no longer take this approach. No need. Can have a space open instead. I always disliked the comments on a lesson and that is why they only were offered in that first lesson.
Learndash is just amazing and greatly surpasses FC course options. I also have that unlimited site forever license so I will not be leaving LD. That being said, IF IF IF, I have a client that has a simple type of course, and they are positive that is all they will ever want, I would consider using the course side of FC. Most of my clients are artists, and they really love everything to be beautiful. No matter what it is. I have clients I build out gorgeous custom courses (lessons too) for and you cannot do that with FC. I will always do what is best for the client and their over all goals! So won't put anyone or thing in a box. :) Hope this helps!
Noelle Mena Hello again Noelle, thanks for your in depth answer, this is helping me navigate this lesson comment feature dilemma while still possibly keeping LearnDash. I've been up and down with comments (do I have them, don't I have them wada wada.) YouTube works well with comments so felt it was a good thing to have comments.
I have further questions for you then if you don't mind on this :)

For a matter of interest... what are your main dislikes about comments? i.e to keep things centralized and prevent fragmentation

So if disabling comments for lessons, would you then provide direct links to related groups (spaces) under each lesson, so students can go straight to relevant discussions? Or would they just know to go to the relevant group (space)? I feel having such a link in a lesson could be disruptive to the learning flow as they have to then navigate away from the lesson where a comment below keeps the flow better, but then the comments for each lesson can get messy where the group (space) is all consolidated into one place. Perhaps just a mention of the group(space) with link in the intro / first lesson?

I currently have a learning prompt box at the end of each lesson for a person to share their thoughts etc in the comments section. Have you used such a learning prompt feature at the end of each lesson? My thoughts are if I decide to switch comments off and keep the learning prompt box, in the box I can direct them to the group (space). Just may end up irritating for the student to keep navigating away from the page to post their comment in the group and then go back to the lesson to move to next lesson. Thoughts?

1- a thread of comments in a lesson can get messy fast in a learndash lesson. Especially with people responding to people within the thread. It is more work for whomever is moderating and answering questions as well. Not as organizable as inside FC.
2- I am just getting started in my flow with FC but at this moment I am thinking along the lines of...
- Get them auto enrolled into a Specific Group that is designated just for that course. Then they will get access to the Spaces within that group.
- With all the experience I have with 'no matter how obvious you make things, people have questions,' I will have it in multiple places to remind them to head to the Group. Samples would be... In the first lesson of each course have information of where to go and what to do. This could be a modal that opens up so it does not take space on the page. Can also utilize the initial email that goes out after purchasing the course (payment is through a woo product for me, assigned to that course) I can edit that note in the email to include any information I want (including link) to the FC Group. I also have FAQS modals on all of my sites that I will be for sure updating to include things like, How Do I Access a Courses Community?
For me, using Themeco PRO- I love using a Global Modal that I can edit anytime and the changes happen everywhere have the modal. (these are called Components now) I keep the language vague so it can apply to all of the places and they have the rest of the info inside the course and emails where they need it.
Things like that.
3- I am not sure if your Learning Prompt is for YOU or what is happening with that. Like is it feedback? Why is it better in a comment on the lesson page? If it is input you want just for you- embed a gravity form or other and gather the info you want right in the lesson itself. No comments needed.
I do not see it at all as students getting mad to navigate away from the lesson or course to go post in the FC. They were already hopping onto Facebook. To me it is simple. Here is the Course, and Here is the Course Community... see you there. :)

Can't help myself and then ask you how do you plan on integrating FC with LD and the menu structuring and theme? i.e FC has its own main menu and profile menu and LD has the same.
I ask as I am currently using LD and BB (BuddyBoss) and it's a bit disjointed how LD and BB are integrated i.e the main community menu is not in align with the LD main menu for viewing messages, notifications and search.
Take it you will be creating a separate menu system from your theme where one can go to the FC space(s) and one can go to the LD course (s)? If that. is the case then how do you keep the FC profile, search, notifications etc aligned with LD menu when in LD and a course.

Morgan McArthur I am glad it is helping you Morgan. Keep in mind, I am brand new to FC too, less that two weeks and absolutely still learning! :) I am not concerned about the menus. You can add a Community (or portal link, whatever you are calling it) in your LD drop down menu. Can have it on the site as a whole if you wanted as long as you have the access settings the way you want. As far as profiles, I do not think it actually bad to have two different ones (My Account profiles are the current profiles on my sites that house both learndash and woocommerce info) and then the new FC has their profile in the community. To me, right now, I like that. If you are in the community, ...you are in the community. And anything you need to do while in the community it tied to your community profile. It almost feels like it would be toooo much if EVERYTHING was in one single profile. (LD, WOO, FC) And overwhelming for students. It all feels kind of obvious to me that while I am in the FC, I use my FC profile. Some of my websites have students that are in 50+ courses. I can see where I would maybe put a link inside the community (top or side) that links to their main site profile that has all of their courses listed to get back into etc. A LOT is going to be added into FC and the ability to get things where you need them. I am actually so glad I just got started! We haven't seen the theme integration or shortcodes yet. A lot of doors will open. :)
