Organization Question - Advice needed.
Trying to organize our stuff moving over - categories inside WP were easy because I used filters to show combinations of tags. For example, 'football AND resume' or 'football OR resume' etc. I'm confused on how to do this with topics. I thought it would filter within a space, but it seems to filter across all the spaces where it is allowed and shows them even when you're in a space.
Example: Post on 'social media for football coaches' ; i'd like to tag as 'social media' and 'football'. When in the football space and clicks the 'social media' topic at the top, it would filter the results inside the space and not show posts about basketball 'social media' or soccer 'social media' etc. I also have a space called 'social media for coaches' where I'd like that post to show and could filter by sport inside there or show 'all' for all social media posts.
Not really a request, just need help wrapping my mind around this.
That's what topics are actually. You can set how many topics a user can select.
Shahjahan Jewel Understood - but I'm asking about what shows and if topics clicked inside a space narrows down the posts shown or expands them to show posts from other spaces.
I am confused, because inside a space, if you click 'All' it limits the posts to the space, but when you click a topic - it expands to show posts from any space (accessible) with that topic.
For example, I have post A (social media, football) and post B (budget, football). When in budget space, I click on 'football' and both posts show because they have 'football' when i really just want those posts assigned to that budget space with 'football' to show. I don't want the social media/football posts showing in the budget space simpley because they share the football tag.
If I was in the general 'feed' then I would want all to show.
But inside of a space, I just thought the topic would narrow down the posts shown within the space instead of expanding to show posts not put inside the space.
I'm just confused on the filter/facet options. If they're working as expected, how do you 'narrow' down inside a space the posts shown?
Joe Young Currently Topics are bind within a space and ofcourse you can assign a single topic to multiple spaces. Maybe in the future, we will add options to show the topics in the main feed (Globally). it will be an interesting feature. I like it.
Shahjahan Jewel Last question on this, how does the 'All' button on the topics list work? If I click 'budget' it shows all posts with budget from all spaces, if I click 'football' it shows all posts with football from all spaces, but if I click 'all' it shows just posts from the current space. Having 'all' as a choice beside the others is confusing. It works like a 'just posts from this space'.
Joe Young Ahh I think that is a bug. When you are in a space it should only show posts in that space. I am adding this as a bug report and we will fix it in the next version.
