Option to not send email notification when creating a post

I send a newsletter out twice a month, and I typically include the links that are in the newsletter in my community as well. Considering that each time I create a post it will trigger an individual email notification if the user has that option on, I was wondering if there's any sort of option (or maybe this can be a feature request) to prevent that post from triggering a new post notification. I know as an alternative, I can maybe create a new group that does not send email notifications (like a newsletter group), but that would seem a little redundant.

Good idea!

Hello BobΒ ,
Usually if a member select to get notification for all new posts, they should get it.
However, I have created a workaround solution for you. You can achieve this with a custom PHP snippet that lets you choose which posts should skip email notifications.

You’ll find the snippet and installation steps here: https://gist.github.com/NayanInsight/2d204d403fbfe887bc7f546544f7962f

Once it’s active, type [silent] on the first line of your post before publishing.

The snippet removes the marker from the published content and cancels that post’s new-post and announcement emails. Posts without [silent] keep their normal notification behavior, so you can continue using the same space.

Thanks

Bob

Nayan DasΒ Interesting! Thank you. I'll check that out.
