Opt-Out of Member Directory
I like the idea of a member directory. It helps people network in some cases. However, a few folks don't want to have their profile listed.
It would be nice if they could select an option in their profile that determines whether they're included in the member directory.
It's a very good point. A few other members also requested this feature. We will do some R&D and see how we can make it work.
Shahjahan JewelΒ I suggest implementing this feature as paid/subscribed feature for users, this way admins could monetize it if they want so.
Rosvaldas NudasΒ Another good idea! I am loving all the feedbacks.
Shahjahan JewelΒ adding related suggestions:
- It is important when dealing with separated clients on the same fCommunity instance to keep then separated - competitors/our clients shouldnt be able to see each other unless the admin allows it but also when clients/end-users in this case want to share their existence with other competitors (unless Admin disable sharing customer/enduser details)
- User should decide if their user name is displayed on the leaderboard and if the user profile link is active so other users can visit the user profile
- the user should decide if the user card is displayed when hover on the user name since it includes user details that the user/admin doesnt want to show off
- Admin can enable option but also a user if the user profile link (URL) is clicable (disabled route) by not logged users / not a Space members. If not logged user visit the member profile then it will required to log in or to become a member of the Space
Shahjahan JewelΒ The more access controls you give for admins, the better the product will be and the more options it will have for monetization which is key for running not only a surviving but profiting social network especially these days. Buddyboss stands out for their access controls, other than that peepso is better than buddyboss, and fluent community is better than them all haha
Rosvaldas NudasΒ & Mat ΒΒ I am thinking of adding a checkbox will solve lots of issues regarding this:
"Make my profile as private". If it's private then the profile will not be shown on the directory and also the profile will not show any info like posts/comments/about etc.
And only admin / moderators can see these info
Shahjahan JewelΒ love it - so competitors/clients wont see each other
Shahjahan JewelΒ Friends or follow feature also a must and then connected users should be seeing each other even if set to private, and again paying for being in private even then could be a good monetization chance
Rosvaldas NudasΒ Followers feature is something we are still thinking. So not sure about that yet.
Shahjahan JewelΒ so how else you plan for users to connect to each other, friends feature? Some kind of connection is a must
Rosvaldas NudasΒ For now, users are connected via spaces just like we have here.
Shahjahan JewelΒ honestly I feel dissappointed, follow feature is really a must, friends can be forgotten. If gamification is implemented and users get points for likes, how is a user supposed to gamify his profile without followers? If not follow or friends, then you gotta be thinking of something completely new on the planet haha
Shahjahan JewelΒ when you add a checkbox for adding more privacy options, please consider an option to disable connections to Gravatar as well. To me it looks as if this topic (discussed in my other posts) has not really been taken seriously, while it remains a major bouncer for EU-BASED community adminsπ
