New Users Can't Post Unless They Join – Am I Missing a Setting?
Hi everyone,
In my current space settings, new members are required to manually join the space before they can start posting. However, many people don’t realize they need to do this, and end up confused or inactive.
Is there a way to make it so that everyone is automatically joined or able to type in the space without needing to take that extra step?
Or am I possibly missing something in the settings?
P.S. This is a fully closed/private community.
Maybe not the most convenient, but you can add a user to a space with an automation tool like ottokit
Use FluentCRM to create a tag and add it automatically. In your community setting add the tag to the space in Access Management.

Sedat Yusuf Ergüneş From now on you only need to remember to add the tag to the space, if you make a new one, that you need this for. I think it is not such a big deal. ;)
I have this issue too. I don't use FLCRM as I already have zoho setup. I am working if there is a way to have all members "join" automatically so they don't have to request.
Hey Shahjahan Jewel, would it be possible for your team to consider adding this small feature to the settings? It would be super helpful!
Perhaps it could even be introduced as a general option like 'Require join to spaces' or smth like that.

Sedat Yusuf Ergüneş In the space settings you can put a description. That will show up on the sidebar, so you can put something like that there.
A user must join a space to post. You can auto-join a user to a space using FluentCRM automation. So when someone logs in, you can automatically add them to public spaces.
Shahjahan Jewel yeah but what about those of us that don't use FluentCRM? I have had zoho CRM for years but there isn't a way to recognize those tags from zoho.
Lisa Faast as I said, a user must join in a space to post. This is a very fundamental thing and also a security feature that every community platform follow.
Shahjahan Jewel in that case how about putting a little alert/notification banner (white or default theme color, not like directly in the photo) just on top of space banner or the latest post.
It can say “You need to join the [space_name] before you start posting.” and a small join button at the end of the row.
It can really improve ux.
We have a really new community and till now all 3 person who joined asked me how they can post and they all are experienced tech building business too.
I tried the Ottokit - it sort of works but not really.

the triggers from memberpress are limited (only on successful payment for example will it trigger). I really need a this user exists in Memberpress trigger.

I tried a google sheets trigger but it is just not working. Ottokit can't accept batched rows of data and I can't figure out the right code to make it work.

I have over 600 users i need to activate on FluentCommunity and I would like to not ask them to click the join button, not that it is hard but we all know ANY friction is friction.

Ottokit doesn't integrate with zoho. I might try Make tomorrow.
I just can't believe there is no way to "activate" everyone when starting especially for us who have had memberships and community for several years.
Lisa Faast try to talk to the ottokit team; they may add specific automations to meet your needs. They did for me in the past.
Lisa Faast Not sure about Ottokit but FlowMattic has a trigger for when a user logs in. You could configure it to add them to the space (or spaces) after login.
FYI - Upate - I was able to use OttoKit and used the trigger from WP Fusion and was able to select "resync all user tags" to trigger the workflow in OttoKit that then added all my users to the spaces!
I agree with others here, this is poor UX, especially if there is no obvious toast or notification message advising of this extra step. Adding all these extra layers of automation or adding extra tools such as fluentcrm just bloats things, and potentially opens up security loopholes rather than making things safer and more secure. At least in my opinion.
