mobile app?

We want to publish our FluentCommunity (with FluentCart for payments) website into a mobile app for Android and iOS. Has anybody done this? or is this on the dev timeline Shahjahan JewelΒ ?

Doug Dennison

To be clear, I want to have a dedicated mobile app on the app stores for our specific Fluent Community installation, not a global app for the whole of Fluent Community.

James Elrod

Doug DennisonΒ
Yep β€” this is exactly what we do. Check us out at https://www.twobirdscode.com/

It's a dedicated native app (real React Native, not a webview wrapper) for your specific Fluent Community install β€” published on the App Store and Google Play under your own name/business. No BuddyBoss, no Appza, no middleman layer sitting between you and your members, slowing it down or able to flip it off. The app mirrors your community: feeds, spaces, courses, profiles, notifications, messaging, events/calendar, blog β€” all pulled from your Fluent install.

On FluentCart: the checkout flow runs through an in-app webview, so members can purchase right inside the app without getting bounced out to a browser. (Our fully-native cart today is for WooCommerce β€” FluentCart rides the webview checkout, which keeps it seamless and always in sync with your store.)

We offer it two ways:

1. Managed ($33/month) β€” we handle everything: builds, store submissions, OS updates, new features, store-requirement changes. The app is fully yours β€” it lives on your Apple, Google, and Expo accounts, so if you ever stop paying we can't turn it off or take it down. We're only onboarding a few managed apps a month right now to keep every launch smooth, so if you're interested just reach out and we'll get you in the queue.

2. Dev Bundle β€” the full source code for anyone who'd rather run it themselves. Simple, no-code build flow: build and push to your own stores, or run managed apps for your own clients. Great for agencies or anyone wanting full control.

Happy to talk through which fits your setup β€” reach out through the site anytime.

James ElrodΒ looks good, i clicked on 'Get your own app!' and nothing happened, is this live? i'm interested

Doug Dennison

Hi James ElrodΒ just messaged you privately about this, let me know!

Ben Julien

Doug DennisonΒ Best solution is hire a dev to do this for you since you do not want a global thing. I offer this service. few days and we have a app ready to be tested.

James Elrod

Doug DennisonΒ
It is live! we are mindful of how many we one board and take on at once so we limit it but currently open. This is NOT a PWA, that is a web wrapper pretending be an app, this is a real native app.

For the devs out there Ben Julien we offer the FULL source licensing, skip the PWAs if your looking for a full react level app OTA updates full responsiveness all fluent native features and more for your clients check it out. You buy the dev bundle and can setup your clients managed. Comes iwth a dev dashboard for managing multiple clients/sites you can push OTA updates or new builds directly to their stores from one place. Apply updates all in one place (no code) or add your own customizations (modules) per site without touching core code.

Ben Julien

James ElrodΒ I will check this out

Yes, this is very disappointing. In my opinion, WPManageNinja should take ownership of the mobile app and, like many companies, hire someone, a company, or freelancers to program, develop, and update it. In my opinion, the current state of any mobile app I've seen is non-production.

Birgit

I downloaded this app from TBC, but I have to set up an account on their site to log in. That's not user friendly for my customers in the community. When they want to use the app the need the community login and then a separate account and login for the TBC app? Very confusing in my opinion.

Doug Dennison

BirgitΒ Ah, okay, not what i needed. did you find a different solution or are you still using this?

Birgit

Doug DennisonΒ no I'm not using it, I was on the search for an app ant downloaded it for checking it out. I don't have another alternative solution yet.

James Elrod

BirgitΒ sorry I have no idea what your talking about? Yes if you download OUR community app its a demo for our site? If you want it to go to your site you buy the app and create a new build and publish it to your own store. This is a demo of a fully built app on OUR site for reference?

Doug Dennison

am i overthinking this and thinking we need something specific for fluent community, or will any WordPress site mobile wrapper work?

Ben Julien

Doug DennisonΒ What i have is specific to Fluent Community. Which is why all hooks of Fluent community works seamlessly with no need for external services.

Ben Julien

Doug Dennison i have created a PWA that allows Fluent Community admins to give their users a mobile app experience with all Fluent Community notifications and deep linking.

Install the plugin and use, no sign up on external services, etc. Works right out of the box.

Doug Dennison

Ben JulienΒ I'm not really a developer so I don't really understand what that means. I want a mobile app that I can submit to the app stores and my customers can sign in to their account and use. Is that what yours does?

Ben Julien

Doug DennisonΒ We have what we call a progressive web app and a native mobile app. I offer both services. Tailored only for the fluent community website. So yes, Your community site can be converted into a fully functional mobile app that can be submitted to IOS and Android play store. We can have a chat in the DM if you do not mind.
