Migrating to FluentCommunity
Hi everyone,
As I've been following the development of FluentCommunity from its early stages to where it is today, I feel compelled to ask a few questions regarding its potential for our community.
For the past 20 years, we've built and maintained an active online community with approximately 25,000 members and 600,000 posts. Initially, the community was hosted on vBulletin and later migrated to Xenforo.
Alongside this, weβve also managed the brandβs e-commerce site on WooCommerce, where we already use many of your major plugins.
With this in mind, the idea of integrating our community into WordPress and WooCommerce without compromising performance is quite appealing. However, we have some concerns and would like to ask:
- Can FluentCommunity support a project of this scale?
- Are there plans to create importers that would allow us to migrate our community from Xenforo to FluentCommunity?
While your new product is indeed exciting, Iβm sure you can understand that it would be impossible for us to move forward without having a solution for migrating our large, active community, which sees daily activity.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Hello Steven ZeyΒ welcome to the community. We have tested FluentCommunity with 100K+ users and 500K+ posts/comments/activities and we have optimized every place where it got slowed down. The main point is MySQL and for that you need a decent server with a good MySQL config and then you will get the similar performance of this platform. Please note: Your server choice will highly depends on how many concurrent users you have mostly.
Regarding migrator: Currently, we are working on automatic migrator for Buddypress/ Buddyboss. After that, we will release a detailed technical doc about how you can import bulk data. I never used Xenforo and this is the first time I heard about it. But I think once we have the base migrator class, you or any developer can make a new migrator.
Shahjahan JewelΒ Xenforo is oldschool forum engine. Rock solid, good one!
Migration tools maybe for LMS systems: LearnDash, Tutor etc? I am also manually moving all the courses from LearnDash to test the courses modul fully :)
Shahjahan JewelΒ I wanted to check in and see if there are any updates or a potential timeline for when such a migration tool might be available. Since we are seriously considering moving to FluentCommunity, having a clearer roadmap would help us plan accordingly.
