Member Migration from BuddyPress site to FluentCommunity site
I have a website that is running the BuddyPress and many other related Community plugins. I just recently installed FluentCommunity on a subdomain and I am trying to migrate my members from my BP site to my FC site. Apparently this is only possible if both the BP and FC are on the same site (domain). So is there a way to do this if BP and FC are on different domain URL's? Is there a Member Migration plugin by WPManageNinja that I'm not aware of that will do this?
Maybe these steps might help.
- Clone your bp site into the desired sub-domain
- Install FC on the same sub-domain
- The do the migration...
Sophia SΒ Thanks for the information. But, going that route would seem to put the entire main domain on the subdomain, which would result in having everything cloned, and not just migrating the "Users" of the BuddyPress Community plugin.
I have found a work around, that I think will work. I am going to test it out later today on a different site I have to make sure it works, then I'll post the write up here.
David ForeΒ seems like I had skipped something here. There's a plugin for import export users you can install it on both sites. After importing users into WP then you can add them to spaces etc..... You can then add users to spaces as well as send them WP password reset emails.
Hope that helps pleaseπ
Sophia SΒ Yes, that is the workaround that I was referring to. The first plugin I came across to do this was "WP All Import", and upon further looking at it, it costs $200.00 to do this simple task. I then found another one that is free called, "Import and Export Users and Customers", and this one did just what you said. I was able to export the "Users" from the BuddyPress site. I edited the CSV file in Numbers app on my Mac (Excel on Windows machine), deleting any of the duplicated rows of information and any unneeded information. I then uploaded (imported) the edited CSV file to the FluentCommunity site, and then added them to the "Getting Started" space.
So, this is one way to do it. It would make this whole issue a lot better if Jewel and his team one day have the time to expand the User Migration plugin built-in to the FluentCommunity to be able to export BuddyPress/BuddyBoss Members/Subscribers data and import that into an external site running a second instance of FC.
I know they're busy with other things they are working on, so I don't want to burden them with this issue since there is a decent work around with a bit of tweaking.
Thanks for the advice on this. I hope this helps someone else who may be encountering this same issue. π
