Love to see the Following
-
Can we place the entire community behind a paywall with a monthly subscription for full access, given that it includes course access?
-
Regarding the locked section, how can the community pay for access? how would the payment process be handled? It would be helpful to have a payment option directly on the locked screen for those who want to unlock it. (Paymattic integration?)
-
If someone already has an existing e-learning platform like TutorLMS, how can this integrate with it?
-
Can we create courses where the instructor can host live webinars within the software, allowing students in the community to join? (These webinars could be a YouTube live in unlisted mode, which then is later added into the course as a live webinar.
Also, when a live webinar is LIVE, can a "Live Now" indicator flash as a notification within the community for the duration when a live is active, so all members can see there is a live going on?
-
What if there are trouble users, how are we able to ban them from the community? is there a ban list that can remove the user/s and all previous posts from the community, as we may not want remnants of there history in our community?
-
There should be a native setting for users to not get into the wp-admin this can be detrimental - saw this issue on a review of fluent community on youtube.
I'm working on the payment issues for my site, so let me start there.
Yes, you ca put the community in a private mode where users must be logged in to access the content and materials inside. That's done with FluentCommunity settings.
I used Fluent Forms Pro to create a payment form, which I embedded on a page on my site. That leaves it public. The latest release made it very easy to use the standard login for registered users and to put the link to your registration page up for those who need to sign up.
My form integrates with Stripe, but there are other payment providers. It also integrated with WordPress to create a user account.
I heard from support today that the payment process must first show a status of "Paid" before the integration with WordPress will create an account.
Another concern I had was if the user account already existed. Fluent Forms will check with WordPress and prevent a duplicate account submission (which just updates the existing account) IF you have the correct settings in place to check and provide a warning.
This happens after the payment is successful, so it's possible that someone can pay and not get the account they want. I don't think that's a big problem because the accounts use email addresses as a unique identifier. The username would be a potential concern for duplication.
On this site, I wanted to register as "@william", but someone got there before me. So I had to come up with something else. Not unheard of and you can set FluentCommunity to allow users to change their name if they don't like something automatically generated.
You can also set up payments for access to courses or groups for users already behind a paywall if you have some premium content. All of this happens on WordPress.
WP Manage Ninja also has a Paymattic plugin. I've heard that it uses the same payment system as Fluent Forms Pro, so I didn't bother getting it.
William BeemΒ I literally just bought the plugin an hour ago, im yet to play with it, it may be a few weeks before i do due to some time constraints. I do have the full version of the paymattic plugin which i purchased a few months ago for a elearning site we are putting together. So i hope that would work.
These points I've listed above came out after watching a youtube video reviewing the software, I felt that albiet its a great plugin for building a community, it still needs some work and features similar to what I have mentioned.
I am in the process of putting together an elearning platform using TutorLMS, and yes they are different plugins, but it made me think, my god, if this community plugin was able to allow me to do half of what i can do with courses in TutorLMS and have the community function within it, im sold! (wishful thinking)
Yes, being able to set the username to anything else if its unavailable is a great idea and should be the norm while also providing some suggestions.
Not being a coder in anyway I am unsure how to use this now purchased plugin with the elearning platform i am working on, I am unsure if there are tutorials online yet of e.g. how to set up a paywall for a course on wordpress with fluent community? or how to set up paid courses in fluent community? or how to set up paywall for private group section? etc etc
Ramy NajmeddineΒ I'm working up some YouTube videos as I go through my own setup and will share them. The channel is @suburbiapress. Others are also sharing their experiences with FluentCommunity on YouTube. I haven't found anyone trying to use it with TutorLMS.
I used LearnDash with BuddyBoss in the past, but that's another world, and they had integrations to work together.
William BeemΒ Id definitely subsribe and wait to see if it pops up on my feed.
I used Learndash for a online platform at my work for my their free online courses, and tbh I dislike it, this is why i chose TutorLMS.
I also bought a few AcademyLMS licences on black friday sale just incase i wanted to change from TutorLMS.
AcademyLMS recently has been doing a lot of updates from what i see. I havent installed it, or used it yet, but my side elearning platform which i am working to try launch sometime this year is on TutorLMS.
I would be completely happy if Fluent released FluentLMS that does what I want it to do, I'd buy several lifetime licences. But they all copy each other but few actually do something different or implement features like i suggested above with a flashing Live Now indicator for a webinar that is live for all to see, this would attract sign up and watching and make things interactive and dynamic.
But im just some random guy, why would they listen to me lol.
#6, use the FluentAuth plugin to prevent users from getting to wp-admin. It's a free plugin and you can choose the type of users that are blocked, like Subscribers.
William BeemΒ Ok i'll check that out. thank you π
#5 idea. If you use FluentCRM, come up with a tag or list for banned users. Then build an automation that removes them from the spaces or groups where you want them banned.
You could put it on a Delay timer to reinstate them after a while, too.
William BeemΒ Hi William, thank you for being so kind to reespond. I am not someone who has any understanding of how to automate something, i cannot code if that is what you mean by "build". so i may be stuck on this matter.
These are features that I hope can be implemented in the pro version to be native in the software/plugin.
I may have the fluent CRM free version.
Ramy NajmeddineΒ When I say "build," you don't have to write code. These are things you build by choosing plugins and configuring them.
William BeemΒ Thanks William, I understand just making that clear π
I have my community behind a paywall. I use a sales page (https://courses.thesuccessdoula.com/unstuckable/) and use Fluent Forms (Stripe payment processor) to collect payment. Long before Fluent CRM had all the same triggers they have now, I am in the habit of setting up all my automations for purchases using tags. So when the form is submitted (and since it's a payment form, the payment has to go through) a tag is assigned and thus begins my automation which adds them into the appropriate spaces in Community (private spaces).
I have a free community that people can join from any of my emails, particularly my lead magnets. Most of my lead magnets now have a complementary free course in the community in addition to whatever the lead magnet is (public space).
I also do breathwork so I have a space with a breathwork course with the different preparation videos and at home practices. (private space)
I am slowly moving over all my legacy courses (from LearnDash) to Community so I also have other spaces that are private and I use tags for the automations.
I like using tags because I can test out everything very easily. I make simple mistakes sometimes and being able to get someone in with a tag is useful. Also useful cuz sometimes people will want to pay me with Zelle, Venmo, PayPal or CashApp. And sometimes things just go wrong. Being able to put them in the automation by removing the tag and adding it back in has been incredibly invaluable.
I have Academy LMS, too, but I've never been able to get it to work exactly how I need.
I also use Fluent Booking.
The Fluent ecosystem has been fantastic and I am very happy with it. The only main things missing for me are:
- Anonymous posting
- Certificates (I don't mind having them click a link to a page with a Fluent Form for the test). I only do my certification once a year so I have 8 more months before I have to figure it out (I'll be off LearnDash totally by then). I guess worst case I figure out a certificate solution from Fluent Forms (which I already have quite a few ideas of how that could be possible so I'm sure one of them would work).
- Would love native Presto Player integration (another reason I'm slowly moving everything over). I'll set up the BunnyCDN streaming player if necessary but I'm used to Presto Player and like many things about it. For example streaming live with Presto Player is easy when you use a scheduled YouTube video (unlisted or public).
Wendy ShoefΒ thanks for your elaborate reply. I am curious to know how you are finding having both a free community and a paid community i.e hows your monetisation working for you getting free members over to purchasing one of your full courses or upgrading to your paid community?
Wendy ShoefΒ
- Yes i chose LearnDash as a platform for the marketing departments online training at work - i really dislike LearnDash. So for my personal project im working on to be released later this year I chose TutorLMS, I do like it overall its just missing good themes, so i had to emply a designer who did a mock up and then another developer who is putting it together for me. very time consuming.
-I checked out your site, looks nice.
- The news this morning via email is that AcademyLM has implemented a Fluent Community Integration.
I still have a lot to learn and just wish i can click my fingers to get things working its been 6 months trying to get my learning hub finalised.
Morgan McArthurΒ They do different things. My free community introduces them to the other things I do besides how they found me. For example, if one person finds me through my new moon journal, they may not know I provide microdosing support or that I work with people with ADHD or that I provide breathwork sessions.
The paid communities are specific and targeted (Unstuckable is for Women in Perimenopause, Microdosing with ADHD & Breathwork are for anyone). But the free offerings are a part of my programs. For example, my New Moon Journal is a part of my Unstuckable program and my monthly online breathwork sessions.
RamyΒ Oooh, thanks for pointing out that about Academy LMS is releasing a Fluent Community integration. I still feel like a true LMS will be the best thing for my certification program and I'm hoping Academy will work since I've already paid for it.
Wendy ShoefΒ Thanks Wendy, so you are using your free community as a marketing tool for your paid products which is wise. Might as well add a person to a free community vs just having them in a email list that is not as engaging.
Same here, I currently use Memberpress and MPCourses with free access to all, paywall to become a member, then all is free. using shortcode to check if logged in then have two sections in the html pages, one for logged in users and one for visitors.
this works really well for me and is easy to manage.
how can I move this in to FluentCommunities? (I use FluentCRM and FluentForms)
seems like a fairly fundamental principle of community.
thank you for any help.
Per NorrgrenΒ If you use Fluent CRM, have you looked into utilizing the tag synchronizing feature? I assign the tags for the courses in the automation and then they are automatically enrolled to the courses. You decide when you set up your courses and spaces how people access it (as it should be).
Hi Wendy, thank you. yes, that is an idea to give access.
I have lots of conent now and then more to come, so I can not enroll all users to all material.
thank you for the help
all the best
