Less LMS, more community items
I instantly bought FluentCommunity as a great extension to my (future) website. What I question is the LMS part of the plug in. A learning system has an individual focus, not community. Why is it part of the ecosystem system? I would rather invest more in true community driven use cases then extending the LMS functionalities. Perhaps split it up and launch it as “FluentLMS”??Lastly, let me choose to integrate alternative LMS.
I use both discussion spaces and courses and absolutely LOVEEEEEEE that they are both in the same eco-system. It is why I'm converting everything over to Fluent Community. My clients are really excited about it too.
Courses are a fundamentally important element of an online community. Platforms such as Circle or Skool are leading the way.
I like having LMS features but, I do believe Community feature development is lacking. Where is Events?!

I think a good balance of both community and LMS is a great position to be in as a community, you can choose whether to use the LMS feature or not, or if there was ever someone in the community who requests a course A or B, then the feature is there. If anything I think it should further be developed equally to add value not only as a online community on hobbies, but a elearning community. As even hobbies can find a way to share knowledge and add value to community members.
LMS is part of the ecosystem with the community. WPNinja did a great job to incorporate both LMS and community modelling Circle etc. It's the way forward for LMS to have an integrated community and visa versa.
WPNinja decided not to just focus on community or just focus on LMS, they decided both, and for good reason as Circle is leading the way for both.
I can also say the LMS version is lacking in features just like the community aspect is, we just have to all be patient (easier said than done at times I know) as the ninja's try and accommodate both LMS and community together for us all.
Morgan McArthur I agree; both should be developed seriously. I hope they evolve to compete with top LMS platforms like TutorLMS and LearnDash. There are many features that could significantly boost their visibility and appeal to businesses. For example, integrating a live webinar streaming feature on YouTube as an unlisted video, while allowing real-time chat within the community, would be a game-changer. Especially if you are streaming live the community see that course X is live via a pulsing notification somewhere like the courses space or side section, to attract to join or sign up.
