would be great if you could set something like "unlock a course when reaching level xy on the leaderboard" in the course settings so you don't have to use FCRM
That's a feature that I requested 5 months ago :)
This looks like something you can do with the free version of FluentCRM, according to this doc article.

Go to the section on triggered and this is there:
User Level (Leaderboard) Upgraded:
If you select this trigger, automation will start when a user upgrades to a level in the leaderboard of FluentCommunity.
I haven't tested this yet and I don't know how you can determine a specific level to trigger access to a course, but FluentCRM seems to be the tool to use.
William Beem thank you, i know that....that's why i wrote "so you don't have to use FCRM"
since the new webhook feature came out, you could use things like ActiveCampaign without the need of FCRM....so it would be great if leaderboard also would work without FCRM (although i'm a FCRM user, many of my clients aren't willing to switch)

This is definitely possible using the provided hooks for leaderboard progression and space membership. Wouldn't be able to add it in the front end but could definitely set this up in the backend.
