Layout Tweaks
Seen a post asking for the feature to have the left sidebar collapse on desktop, etc... Started tinkering with it and finally nailed down the css selectors to do just that along with making the feed wider.
Also added in some js so the menu stays open and the menu toggle is hidden when in the admin settings.
Pretty cool!
Great job, it looks fantastic. Congratulations!
Will you share how you did it and the code? π
JosΓ© Carlos EstiradoΒ I will once I have it dialed in completely. Right now I have the width set at 100%, however on larger screens this may cause issues with images. So I will need to add some max width setpoints to handle this and then possibly some alignment adjustments as well.
I'm also going to work on a second version that has more of an app drawer look. The menu will be similar but when it collapses will have icons still visible that can be clicked on as well.
That was a request I made a while back. Glad to know it's achiveable. Following you for updates.
Jeff BrigmanΒ Great, we'll be watching, great job ππ
Posted the code here: https://jeffbrigman.com/community/space/fluent-community/post/left-sidebar-collapsed
It's currently tagged as Beta because I will be implementing a few more tweaks over the next few days and to allow for any issues to be found and fixed.
Jeff BrigmanΒ Registration is not allowed
La Tribu DivingΒ try now.
Jeff BrigmanΒ Not either, because it doesn't have a registration button
Jeff BrigmanΒ joined. Had to request access to the space to see the sidebar code. I'm the first member it appears π
ThomasΒ I will be automating the approval process soon using flowmattic.
Jeff BrigmanΒ I have already requested access to view it, thank you.
Jeff BrigmanΒ If you click and a screen appears to recover your password, you enter an email address and it gives an error saying it doesn't exist, as is normal, but there's never anything about creating a new account.
La Tribu DivingΒ click on βSign Upβ.
Jeff BrigmanΒ Did you see the screenshot? There's no way to register anywhere.
La Tribu DivingΒ thatβs the password reset form, thatβs why.
When you go to the link I shared above, it tells you to login/sign up. When you click on that it takes you to the form that I shared above also. On that page you scroll down and click on SIGN UP. It will then take you to the registration/sign up form.
DO NOT click on the βLost your password?β link.
Jeff BrigmanΒ I I already solved the puzzle :-( , without data you click on login and that's where the registration option appears. I tried it with data and it doesn't work, it only works without data. Personal question? Haven't you made it too difficult? That might discourage registrations.
La Tribu DivingΒ I didnβt make anything difficult as the login, registration, and password reset logic is either the default wordpress or fluentcommunity process.
Itβs literally the same across every default installation unless someone has customized it beyond what they, the devs, initially designed itβ¦.. and I have yet to even mess with that area on FCom yet.
Jeff BrigmanΒ Done, registered and in your community π
I was able to redo this into a single PHP snippet after they posted the dev docs. I was able to verify the templates for pages and target both them and a default FCom layout. I have only somewhat verified it works with Elementor and their Hello theme on a staging site: https://elementor-utxq.1wp.site/hello-theme-6/ and with Bricks here: https://icy-lagoon-173344.1wp.site/demo-page/
I will update the original code on my site once I have a little more time to test, but it's coming around nicely.
those staging sites were spun up in about a 1-2 minutes through xCloud if you're wondering, and they have a BF deal going on too: https://xcloud.host/deal/
Jeff BrigmanΒ thanks for mentioning. Our deal is ending within next few hours. But if any fluent community members ever need just sent me a dm or email me at [email protected]. We are always grateful to this amazing community members β€οΈ
