Is there a way to display username

Is there a way to publically display a username instead of name? But also keep a record of first name and last name.

I was considering only using first name as a required field like on this website but would still want to capture full name in the profile

FluentCommunity allows for a public display name, which is shown in the portal, and also stores a separate username.
