Introducing SpaceEvents - Events for FluentCommuity

Hi everyone,

After much deliberation and encouragement from my partner, I have decided to create an Events add-on for FluentCommunity.

SpaceEvents is now available as a public beta at a discounted price from www.tribetools.pro/item/spaceevents (use the code SE40OFF for a 40% discount).

SpaceEvents is an easy and intuitive addon with two main modes (Space only and Public Events), they can be run separately or together.

Space only mode - once installed and activated, you can head to any Space, click the 3 dots > Space Setting and enable SpaceEvents for that Space. You can also select who can create events, Admin, Admin & Mods or Everyone.

When enabled, head back to the Space, refresh the page and you will now see the Events tab. Clicking here will show all events in a List, Card or Calendar. I have kept the Add Events form simple for now but it has all the usual event related basics. Title, Short Description, Long Description, Start and End Date/Times, Featured Image, Location Type (in-person or virtual) Location Name and Address and Map, What3Words, Organiser Contact. Price, Capacity, Registration close date, Attachments. More feature will likely follow over the coming months.

Public Events mode - this really works best if you enable Global Post Status in the main FluentCommunity Settings > General. Once enabled, head to Settings > SpaceEvents to enable Public Events.

Copy the Public Events URL shown and add this to your Menu Settings (Primary Menu, Profile, Top Links or Sidebar Bottom links, or all locations). I have also included several SVG icons you can use for the links. On the SpaceEvents page you will also see which Spaces have SpaceEvents enabled (if any).

Head back to the main Portal/Home and refresh the page. You will now see the Events link you created. Visit the Events page, and you will see List, Card and Calendar views and the Add Events, which follows the same format as Space only mode.

There are a number of other options for sharing and promoting Events, by sharing to the Space Feed, members of that Space will see a notification, or if you are adding a Public Event, you can post to the Global Feed. If you enable both Space and Public events, you can also cross post to the Global Fed and Space Feeds.

Registration is basic at the moment, but there are plans to use FluentCart for payments. Attaching resource to events works, map/address lookup works and there's options to use other APIs in the WordPress Dashboard > SpaceEvents > Settings. Recurring and repeating events work, but not exactly the way I expect yet (will be in next release).

Users can also find the Events they are attending (and organising) in My Events in the users drop-down menu. Even Organisers can access a list of Attendees and export as CSV and PDF.

Below is a short video showing some of the features. If you are interested in trying and testing the public beta, please head over to www.tribetools.pro/item/spaceevents β€”Β use the code SE40OFF for a 40% discount your first year (works on both 1 site and 5 site licenses), I also offer a 30-day full refund if you are not 100% happy.

If you'd like to just see and play with the demo (Single Space only) head over to https://tribetools.pro/portal and create an account to check out the SpaceEvents Demo.

Happy to answer any questions here.

Cheers, David

Very nice

Oops! I change a DNS setting and emails stopped! Should be fixed now. Sorry about that πŸ˜ƒ

Scott Hopkins

Thanks for building - do you plan to offer a way for people to pay to attend an online event? maybe using fluencart?

Andre Gois

Scott HopkinsΒ he mention That on the video

David Churchill

Scott HopkinsΒ yes, FluentCart integration at some point. Some interesting issues I will be working on over the next couple of days, so beta-2 will be on it's way soon πŸ‘

Scott Hopkins

Andre GoisΒ thanks - didn't watch it yet

Scott Hopkins

David ChurchillΒ thanks ! purchased this morning to check it out

Tindaro Battaglia

Great Addon, congratulations! is there any LDT available?

Ludo (WeT)

David ChurchillΒ  +1 for LDT :)

David Churchill

Tindaro BattagliaΒ Ludo (WeT)Β yes I will likely offer Lifetime offer once it's fully live πŸ‘

Hoang Hxn

Very good πŸ˜‰
David Churchill What about paid events?

David Churchill

Hi Hoang HxnΒ I am planning FluentCart integration in next release - aiming for first stable (no-beta) version by the end of March πŸ‘

Tom Palmer

This is brilliant. Thank you David.

I just installed it. Will a lifetime license be available?

David Churchill

Tom PalmerΒ yes, once production ready I will be looking at lifetime licenses πŸ‘

Debby Ward

Looks great, just what I have been looking for. Have you considered a WP Fusion integration? Would be helpful to connect to external mail systems like ActiveCampaign, Kit, etc.

For example, I would love to be able to tag someone who registered or attended in ActiveCampaign and use WP Fusion to integrate with Fluent Cart.

David Churchill

Hi Debby Ward, thank you. I will be adding support for FluentCRM (v3) and also FluentCart. SpaceEvents beta-2 is almost ready (end of week 🀞), and CRM and Cart are planned for beta-3 and then hopefully going fully live after that.

Debby Ward

David ChurchillΒ Thanks David. Look forward to the FluentCart integration. I don't use FluentCRM, but I am sure that will be great for some people. Good luck getting beta-2 out.

David Churchill

Debby WardΒ will look at WP Fusion, but focus is Fluent integration first πŸ‘

Debby Ward

David ChurchillΒ Makes sense!

SpaceEvents Beta-2 is now available πŸ‘

Lots of updates, including:-

  • Added Countdown Timer on upcoming events so attendees can see exactly when the event starts (can be enabled/disabled as default and on a per-event basis).
  • Added Cross-Posting Controls β€” new admin setting to keep Space events and Public events cleanly separated, or allow cross-posting between them. Off by default.
  • Fixed permission issues during the Event creation. e.g. if Cross-Posting is enabled, "Post to public feed" options are only available if the space is Public. This means the public event options are disabled for Private and Secret spaces.
  • Fixed permission issue where Public Events were not showing on the Public Events page properly.
  • Updated the Attendee registration (RSVP) and cancelation process to make it easier for members to join and leave events.
  • Updated the Waitlist process, if Capacity and Waitlist are enabled on an event, attendees who join the waitlist are now automatically added when a space becomes available.
  • Updated and added new options for Event Organiser. Organisers can now Add and Remove Attendees from the Attendee tab.
  • Updated Virtual event options, now includes: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, GoToMeeting, Jitsi Meet, Zoho Meeting, Discord, YouTube Live, Twitch, Vimeo Livestream, Webinar and Other. Virtual options also include: Meeting URL, Meeting ID, Passcode, Dial-in Numbers and Joining instructions.
  • Redesign of the Dashboard, it's now easier to access all sections within the SpaceEvents Admin (All Events, Add and Edit Event, Categories and Settings).
  • Added plain-text Email Templates to override all email content. Templates include a full list of custom {tags} for all aspects of the Event. The email templates currently include: Booking Confirmation, New Booking Alert, Cancellation Confirmation, Cancellation Alert, Event Reminder (triggered 24 hours before the event), Waitlist Confirmation, Waitlist Promotion and Removal Notification. Rich-text templates are planned for Beta-3.
  • Added language support, includes US and UK English β€” you can use something like Loco Translate to now translate all aspects of SpaceEvents.
  • Plus a number of other minor tweaks, updates and improvements.

David Churchill

Beta-2.1 (minor update)

It's just come to my attention that there was an issue with Photon today (the free location address auto-complete service), so I have added Nominatim as an alternative free service. Google Maps and Mapbox will also be available in the next update.

I have also fixed the reported Timezone issues where events were displaying on the wrong date on the Calendar view.

Karrina Mountfort

Hey quick question how is this different than the Fluent Community Add on plugin? I am using that and it is working well

David Churchill

Hi Karrina Mountfort not sure which add-on you mean, but SpaceEvents can be enabled on individual Spaces or Site-wide or both at the same time. If you head over to tribeTools.pro and register for the Community you can test the demo - also happy to answer any other questions πŸ™
