Introducing FluentCommunity 1.8 - Major Update 🚀
We just released one of the biggest updates of FluentCommunity. Our team worked hard on this update and shipped one of the most requested features, along with numerous improvements. Let's take a look:
NEW: Follower Module
We conducted extensive research and development for this module, and ultimately, we developed this feature to ensure it can handle a large number of members. Users can follow each other and view only their followers' feeds. Along with these, we made sure a member will not see any posts from blocklists.
We could build this feature easily if we did not consider the performance; we made sure these new features does not impact on the database queries. In fact, this new version is faster than before for feed queries.
This module includes:
- Follow / Unfollow Users
- Block Users
- Privacy Settings for Followers / Followings
- Turn on Notifications for the following
- Contextual Follow/Unfollow button to all the profile-related UI
- Curated Feeds across Main Feed and Space Feed from followings
Full BuddyBoss Migration
We have onboarded some massive communities from BuddyBoss and we have rewritten the whole migration scripts, added CLI commands to migrate every post, media, members, and followers. One of our customers has already migrated with 8 years of data using the beta. If you have a big BB database, use the CLI command to migrate everything and enjoy the super-fast experience.
Course Email Notification
Now, you can set email notifications for your structured and scheduled course notifications for your students. You can customize the emails as well.

The new version has just been released and, unless I am mistaken, the indexing issue has not been fixed. Is that correct ?
- Duplicate Content: Google discovers the article URLs through redirect links (with
?fcom_action=auth...parameters) and considers them the "canonical" versions. - Missing Canonical Tag: No
rel="canonical"tag is being generated on these article pages, which is the root cause of the duplicate content issue. (Please see the attached Search Console screenshot). - SEO Integration Conflict: I use Yoast SEO, but Fluent Community posts are not a registered "Content Type" that Yoast can recognize, so they do not appear in its settings, nor in the main XML sitemap.
1 & 2 have been implemented.
We don't have plan to integrate with SEO plugins as there are too many. FluentCommunity contents are not CPT so they have to support it manually and that's the reason, we have added custom sitemaps.

Shahjahan Jewel for your R&D - please ensure you allow a maximum number of attendees for an event, and a waitlist. Those are dealbreakers for our events.
Unfortunately for me, there’s nothing there yet... will start my collaborative project with bridges.
But I'm very happy with FluentCommunity, it's really great to work with.
The frames-themed pages now flash very strongly when loading... was better resolved before.
Shahjahan Jewel Since updating, lessons are not publishing, when you add embedded media from bunny net, just sits spinning. Console shows: Blocked a frame with origin "https://iframe.mediadelivery.net" from accessing a frame

Having the option to set main feed to List is great for consistency, also having Model view enabled for Lists is a big upgrade for users keeping their place in Space / List when viewing a post! No more forced page reloads to get back to where you were in the space feed!

I think there is a bug in the "follow" module. I looked at your profile and started following you, but I can press "Follow Back" on YOUR profile. I don't think that's the behavior you wanted. Shahjahan Jewel

Kimsoft Media AB when you block someone you can’t see his posts in the main feed. But if you go to his profile you can see everything. This is how twitter works.

It would be nice to be able to copy the course module and use it with your own name. In addition to the course module, I would also need an exercise module and tool module.
• Courses - > Name of course - > Lessons - > Name of lesson
• Exercises - > Name of exercise - > Modules - > Name of module
• Tools -> Name of tool -> Modules -> Name of module

Very standard functionality for community and forum applications. Competing apps have this feature it is a basic privacy function.

How do we "delete" direct messages to clean up our DMs? Right now I don't see any way to do this except Leave Space (for spaces), but for individual DMs, there isn't a way to delete the message and that feed from the list of messages.

Looks like a bug when viewing the list of followers. When I click to go to the second (or more) page of followers, it doesn't work and I get the following error in my browser console.

One thing that bothers me a bit... when you use a page via frame in the community, the menu only activates with a small delay when you click on it.
I set up the site in DIVI, could that be the problem? Would it be better to create the page in the WP block editor or in the cadence?

Jéjé immobilier Check if your server side cron is enabled or not (if not, please use server side cron). Then check your FluentSMTP logs.

For message sending, we can set it so that people can only message those who can follow.
The only thing I need to launch for the public my community is the QUIZ linked to the Leaderboard. This will be a REAL GAME changer....... But YOU GUYS did a REALLY GOOD job on this one.
So bb migration still doesnt migrate anything its only copying the urls of media. Its still not a migration then.

Are you checking on Fluent Community Core (here you have it) or in Pro?

Ert K2 try going to settings on Loco and increase the strings fetching limit to +900.
Some fluent plugins need that.
That could be the cause :)
Also, do not forget to click on “sync” prior to looking for your desired string.

Jorge de los Reyes there is a way to completely translate a FC site using your own language like Reddit is doing (the translation is automatic and complete for all the site and based on the language preference you set)?

Regarding BuddyPress Migration, are you still planning to allow FC to become integrated into an existing website, thus having a common menu, sidebars, footer etc. like Buddypress? There are 2/3 users who have submitted the same request on the roadmap, though worded differently, and it's the only thing keeping me from switching. You initially said this was part of the Buddypress Migration roadmap, but I don't see it listed as planned anymore?!
