Integrating Fluent Boards inside FluentCommunity
When I look at the Roadmaps on this site, I can see that the two roadmaps are integrated within the FluentCommunity menu and sidebar.
I haven't found any documentation or integration settings to guide how this is working. It seems like it's more than just putting up a menu link to the URL of the roadmaps page.
When I add it as a menu link, it opens my roadmaps page outside of the community.
Any guidance or direction about how you're integrating this within the community?
The roadmap here is a custom page, likely made bespoke for this purpose. It's how the theme integration will work when released in may I assume. I can get that going now but it doesn't load inside the single page application so you do get a page reload going between non fluent pages.
This may not be the best way to do it but I wish they would make a third type of space called a page (not ideal with the naming) that would simply show a full page, ideally optionally with a right sidebar for widgets, that supports anything a regular WP page support (shortcodes, etc.). These new 'page' spaces would have the same 'join' functionality so people could comment (optional) and get notified of page (space) updates like with other spaces). This may be too elaborate but I think it would work well. Or just figure out how to get shortcodes working in posts in discussion spaces without using iframes. π
Thomas OatesΒ Well, it's a thought. I don't know the best way to do it.
The other challenge I'm working with now with roadmaps is the Login feature. Anyone who gets the URL can view the roadmap, which I wish wasn't the case and why I want it embedded in the community.
However, there are settings I've enabled to prevent people from voting, adding items, or commenting without being logged in as a user.
When they get that warning, there's a login URL that we can modify.
Except it doesn't do what I expect. When I replace that URL with my community login URL, it still takes the visitor to the default WordPress login, not the community login.
That wouldn't be a problem if it were embedded in Fluent Community, but now it's a problem. Time to submit a bug report.
William BeemΒ can you make your whole site private? Thatβs what I did as I still have a few forms that my FC users use from time to time which happens outside FC on a normal Wordpress page. I used the My Private Site plugin (itβs called something like that, Iβm not at my computer to check) and made the whole site private except for my homepage which is a landing page explaining what the community is and who it is for.
Stuart McKelvieΒ Perhaps. I have a lifetime deal with Wishlist Member, but I was hoping to avoid using that. It's not a bad idea to consider.
Shahjahan JewelΒ William BeemΒ I'm trying to integrate Fluent Boards with Fluent Community. In this roadmap, when you select the Roadmaps from the menu, options appear inside the community, and when you then select roadmaps or boards, you remain inside the community while the board appears. Can someone assist me in achieving this result? In essence, I want to add 3 boards to the top.
- Events board using Board in events view
- Roadmap board
- Feedback board
How has Fleunt achieved this result? The only thing which I can see is creating a separate page which takes users outside the community.
Taz AldeekΒ is your fluent community attached to your main website or on a different wordpress install?
Ross FCAΒ it is attached to the main website. I've been in the wormholes of trying to figure out a way to mimic how Fluent have managed to achieve this result but no dice. I've gone through Fluent Forms and used the intergration feature but it's not relevant for my purposes. There was an article online about using the Portal URL in Fluent Boards but again this didn't work. Ross FCAΒ is there any light at the end of this tunnel!
Taz AldeekΒ I wish I could tell you how, other than the theme that Ross offers for FluentCommunityAddons. I don't have it working and decided not to show FluentBoards or Fluent Support right now. They just launch in a new tab as a separate page on the site using the Front End portal for each tool.
Taz AldeekΒ You can see fluent support and fluent forms in action here, will see about showing fluent boards too https://fluentcommunityaddons.com/demos/
