Importing Members (and their Spaces/Courses) from Circle

I'm fuddling along with this manually, (as Ross H knows ... ;-)), and now coming up against the idea that members (in Circle) are in multiple Spaces as well as multiple Courses.

Anyone have any ideas on importing users into Fluent (WP + CRM + Community) and "assigning" Spaces and/or Courses?

Circle gives me a CSV with all of the data, it's just a question of importing it.

Yes, one thought I had would be to create a filter in my spreadsheet, filter for "users in course XYZ" and then import them. Then another filter, for "course ABC" and import them and, at least I think this is how it would work ... it wouldn't duplicate the users but it would then also assign them to Course ABC and "update" the users.

Sound like a plan?

Anyone have a better, less manual labor intensive idea? ;-)

Thanks!

When I import a group, I see I can assign a TAG, this was my plan. Then either run an automation ("all members with tag ABC given access to Course ABC.").

Hey, I’ve actually handled a pretty similar situation recently, migrating users from Circle into a Fluent-Community based setup, including assigning them to Spaces and Courses.

You’re definitely on the right track thinking about filtering users and importing them in batches. The only catch is that Fluent Community doesn’t natively support those types of assignments out of the box, so doing it cleanly usually requires some custom code to avoid duplicates and make sure everything gets mapped properly (Spaces, Courses, tags, etc.).

If you’re looking to streamline the whole thing and avoid the spreadsheet gymnastics, I can definitely help, just a heads up that it would involve a bit of dev work on my end, so there would be a fee. Totally happy to assist more on what that could look like if it helps you move faster.

Emmanuel Annan Thanks! I'm going to give it another go with trying to fiddle with the spreadsheet.

Another option is to just forget all of the Spaces (and who was in which Space) and just email everyone and say, "Find your old Spaces again. Sorry!"

Yeah, that's where I am.

Are you talking hours of dev work? Days? Light years ... ;-)
