I received a complaint from a student
I made a portal for two classes. I just heard back from one student and he complained about getting emails for all activity happening in the portal. ---- Gush this I did not know about. I did not know that each student would by default receive an email for all activity going on....
Have you taken a look at the following settings?
example.com/portal/admin/settings/email-notifications
"portal" could be whatever you changed it to in the config.
Your users can also set these individually on the profile page.

Joshua Peterson Yeah. I looked at the settings and noticed it.
I tried copying the wording there but can not select the text.
The wording is not clear for me that all users will be emailed when someone adds a comment. I found it strange that the users get emailed about all activity.
Paal Joachim Romdahl from my understanding it's only when someone is the owner of a post or has commented on a post already? I mean, I don't receive updates for ALL activity here on the WPManageNinja Community - that would be hundreds of emails a day - so I assume there is a way to turn it off/customise it....

I went ahead and unchecked all of them. The test period of using the portal is almost done as well.
Paal Joachim Romdahl lol. That would be a pretty severe bug! Hope you sort it out soon!
P.S. Has this happened with ALL users? Or only this specific one? Maybe they have changed their individual settings unknowingly?

The students have not done much in the portal and very likely not touched any settings they have access to.
Btw I went hunting for the members section area under settings but there is none. As I wanted an overview over all the members of the site....I am not seeing any overview.
