How are you using Chat?
Chat seems poorly implemented here -- just one chat for all the spaces / discussions.
I see in docs that you can create ONE unique chat for each Space. Is anyone doing that? (multiple chats?)
If so, can your users find it easily? Do they like and use Chat?
What have you learned about using Chat that we'd benefit from?

To be honest - try Better Messages (integrated with Fluent Community). Is much better than Fluent Chat.

I also need to migrate from WPForo, and because of that am being extra-careful in choosing my solutions now...

I have multiple chats but not for every space. I am eager to see it updated and I am sure it will be, since it has been recognized that an update is needed, by the ninjas. How high the priority is remains hidden.
At the moment if one joins a space one joins the chat and only leaving a space can free you from it. If it starts to be annoying I will remove and only leave privat chat.
