Godaddy

Has anyone tried using this on a hosting like godaddy? If so have you noticed any performance issues? I know itโ€™s probably not ideal but trying to save the client some money until he can get going then will migrate later.

Tambria Kempย before you decide verify the following:

  • Do they still charge for an ssl or domain privacy (there should be a free option these days)
  • Compare domain prices (check renewal prices not the promo 2yo one)
  • Try google search and look for their hosting support opinions

Think twice before making decision and read all foot prints (skip the marketing part).

Mat โ€Žย what hosting do you recommend?

Admin jย I recommend to choose a hosting with great responsive support and with your time zone support - in many cases it means your country based hosting company who can support you in many cases (including local Law and other business requirements, agreements) a bit better than 24/7 helpdesks. Local/country based company might be a good option for small/mid projects and good option especially for non english speakers.

I dont look for the cheapest hosting promo deals for $1/mth for the first year - such a hosting account might have a bad IP reputation on shared hosting and bad neighborhood.

It's hard to recommend one single company especially if someone is an Agency and not the End user.

For global hosting (in many cases there is no one-size-fits-all solution - not mentioning a wide price range) you can try, ping and compare the following offers (random order):

  • WPOven
  • Cloudways
  • Vultr
  • XCloud
  • WPEngline
  • Siteground
  • ServerPilot.io
  • DomainRacer

*not all hosting above might be good for a WordPress - its all depend about the end-user business case.

For advanced solutions it's a different story and price range and you might compare big brands and their cloud solutions.

For local/country based hosting ask your neighbours or check the competitor IP and hostting and follow and/or copycat them (they already did their homework).

PS. Usefull tools (be careful when comparing site with CDN vs non-cdn as results might vary and you don't compare apples to apples):

Mat is probably the best user in this community. What we have been able to learn from him is truly admirable. Thank you, Mat.
