From Facebook to FluentCommunity?
I hate Facebook. Sometimes I toy with the idea of launching a "local" community using FC, and hopefully bring people over from Facebook over time. I'd love to hear feedback on this? Have you tried it before?
Having typed it out loud, I now realize it'd be hell moderating this, and it's probably best to focus on smaller more focused groups
Welcome to the community. We run both in Facebook group and this community and we get tons of engagement in this community. Also I hate Facebook :)
I have a local blog for my city and thought about running a community. Then I realized it would be a lot of work and no idea how to monetize it. I'd love to know what you have in mind.
William BeemΒ Well, I think I've reached the same point as you..
"it would be a lot of work and no idea how to monetize it."
William BeemΒ I had this "dream" of getting people off Facebook and have better and distraction-less connections, BUT I think I finally realize now that FB IS what people want, isn't it?
Gerard GodinΒ I haven't used Facebook in a few years now. It's not what I want. This is so much nicer.
As for monetizing, I think the problem with a local community is that there isn't a shared journey when you talk about a place. Let's use Las Vegas as an example. It's a home for some. It's a tourist destination for others. It's a conference destination. It's a gambling mecca.
Too many options with different journeys. Until you get everyone on the same page, I don't think it will work.
