FluentMembers versus FluentCommunity

Hi, so I just read the news about a soon to be announced product: FluentMembers.

  1. When will you this launch and
  2. How will it differ from FluentCommunity if FC offers already pretty much everything?

Partho Hore

Hello Stefan Pfadt, Thanks for keeping an eye on the FluentMembers news.

On timing, we haven't locked an exact date yet, but we're in the final stretch. The website goes live very soon, and that's where the launch details land first.

On how it differs from FluentCommunity, the short version is they solve different problems.

FluentMembers is a membership and access-control plugin. It doesn't build a community or host courses. It controls who can access what, and it handles the payments.

Core jobs: create membership levels (individual and corporate), content restriction across posts, pages, tags, custom post types, Gutenberg blocks, WooCommerce, and FluentCart's digital and physical products, content dripping, recurring payments through Stripe and PayPal, email notifications, member management, a frontend member portal, membership analytics, migration, and Fluent integrations. Think of it as the paywall and access layer around your content.

On the other hand, FluentCommunity is a community and learning platform. It turns your WordPress site into a social space where members interact. You get Spaces, courses, chat, leaderboards, member profiles, and polls, all inside your own WordPress site with no external platform.

Spaces work like folders for conversations and can be public, private, or hidden. It handles discussions, feeds, engagement, and course delivery, the place where members gather and learn.

So one gates access and manages subscriptions; the other powers the community and learning experience. Hope that clears it up. Happy to answer more.

Partho HoreΒ It means new profile page for fluentmembers in fluentcommunity platform?

Partho Hore

teethyΒ It's a bit different from that. FluentMembers is a separate, standalone plugin, not a profile page or module inside FluentCommunity. Once it's out, you have to install it on its own, and it'll run on any WordPress site whether or not FluentCommunity is there.

Stefan Pfadt

Partho HoreΒ wow, thanks for this in-depth response, really appreciate it πŸ˜€

Cannot wait to see it since I want to move away from BuddyBoss completely.

Partho Hore

Stefan Pfadt Anytime, glad it cleared things up. We're just as eager to get you onboarded once FluentMembers goes live. 😎

Partho HoreΒ So there's no planned front-end integration with FluentCommunity? Boards, Booking, Support, Forms are already isolated from the awesome fCom portal. It would be a shame if new releases are also left stranded.

Ross FCAΒ β€œand Fluent integrations” from Partho HoreΒ  above post.

Partho Hore

Ross FCAΒ FluentMembers won't be left stranded. It's built to integrate across the Fluent ecosystem, FluentCommunity included, along with FluentCRM, FluentCart, Fluent Support, Fluent Forms, and Paymattic. It will work with WooCommerce too.

Partho HoreΒ That sounds great! Currently I am using only the smallest Part of FluentCart and FluentCRM to manage my Community, FluentMembers seems to be more focused on the Membership-Site like WishList Member and MemberPress. Love it :D

Ross FCA

Partho HoreΒ Thanks for that :) I know they'll be "integrated" in the sense they'll talk to each other and manage each other. But if you have fluentcommunity will the Members portal be a part of the fcom SPA or a standard wordpress page with theme compatibility? (akin to fluentcart customer profile)
