FluentCommunity TypeSense search

Would it be possible for FC to create an addon so you can add FC to TypeSense search? This would allow us to have all community posts, wordpress posts, pages and products in one search instead of needing to have two different searches.

And thus also replacing the FC in-built search with the Typesense search.

No plan for official addon. Maybe Ross FCA can release a premium/free addon.

Personally I would not want to rely on a third party for search. Much prefer a built in FC search... they will continue to improve and add to their in built search i.e searching courses

Morgan McArthurΒ if FC would expose the database that would be no issue. Typesense and likewise engines are way better then standard wordpress and fluentcommunity search could ever be. It is their core product. Also a huge issue for me and many other business is having multiple search engines. Thus we need something like Typesense, algolia, etc to allow searching through the whole site. Not just parts, based on where you are.

This is definitely a tradeoff of the current setup of FC. Because the traditional wordpress environment including all cpt's is already easily to integrate with typesense.

WilcoΒ Totally understand... it's so important to have a robust super effective search engine.

FYI, SearchWP has the ability to index/search other content like FC but it requires building a module. It's on my to-do list for my internal site so I have no real idea on how to make it work yet. The idea would be to replace the built-in FC search with the SearchWP once it is configured to search FC content. In theory... :)

Thomas OatesΒ Great, keep us posted on it it works out for you ;) ... wish you all the best with it!
