FluentCommunity Account Deactivation and Personal Data Withdrawal – How It Actually Works

Colleagues, could you please clarify how account deactivation in FluentCommunity works in practice?

I’m interested not in the UI, but in the system’s actual behavior:

  1. What exactly happens when a user deactivates their account:
    – is the profile fully hidden,
    – is access to the personal dashboard and spaces revoked.
  2. How the system handles personal data after deactivation:
    – are email campaigns from FluentCommunity and FluentCRM stopped,
    – can deactivation be considered a valid and sufficient way to withdraw consent for personal data processing.
  3. What happens to user-generated content:
    – do posts and comments remain on the site,
    – is authorship preserved or does the content become anonymized.
  4. When the account is reactivated:
    – is access restored automatically,
    – do subscriptions and email communications resume.

Context:
We are currently designing a clear and compliant mechanism for withdrawing consent to personal data processing and want to understand whether we can safely and legally rely on the built-in account deactivation feature in FluentCommunity, without deleting user-generated content that represents an integral part of the knowledge base and community.

I would appreciate any real-world experience or links to documentation describing actual behavior and edge cases.

I thought bookmarking the post would give me notifications when someone answered, but apparently not. Sorry everyone. +1

I’ve noticed that many users (myself included, haha!) are commenting '+1' just to receive notifications for future replies on a specific post. This creates a lot of 'noise' and clutter in the comment section.

A great improvement for the UX would be adding a 'Follow Post' or 'Notify Me' button (perhaps a bell icon) on each thread. This would allow users to subscribe to updates without needing to post a comment. It keeps the discussions clean and ensures users stay engaged with the content they care about. 😎
