Fluent Suite: small features that would help a lot
Hi everyone β quick note: I tested the Fluent Suite and collected a few suggestions (reset button for test data, better scheduling options, ability to deactivate Spaces, etc.). Sharing here in case anyone else finds this useful β feedback, upvotes and discussion welcome. Thanks!
I appreciate your software and want to make a few suggestions.
I got some ideas during my testing.
β’ It would be nice to be able to reset FluentForms after the test phase (creating a new form is a partial solution) and FluentCRM β for example with a button that either fully resets everything or only clears entries and payments from the test purchases. It would also be great if WP users could be reset. In my tests I created almost 200 users in WordPress and now have to use WP-CLI or the database. Maybe this is a useful feature for you.
A few things from the FluentCommunity that I noticed:
β’ In βFeedβ the post box is shown even for groups that donβt allow comments. It would be great to be able to set for a user that they canβt comment or post, so the post box wonβt be shown β only after they join a group where commenting/posting is allowed. (Maybe allow commenting and posting separately, so you could allow commenting but not posting.) It would also be useful to dismiss posts so βFeedβ really shows only current items. You could add a βReadβ button at the top or a filter. Thereβs already a search and posts are accessible in the Spacesβ¦
β’ Allow collapsing individual posts in Spaces once theyβve been read. Also: when you open a collapsed post and read it, returning is a bit awkward.
β’ Please donβt enable comments automatically on new posts. (If you can disable posting + commenting per user thatβs OK, but then the comment icon should disappear too, not only the posting bar.)
β’ Important: For scheduled posts comments should be possible to disable by default (unless this is already possible per user). Once a scheduled post has been published you canβt change the publish date anymore. That was bad in my case β my test phase took too long and now the poll is published. I canβt even copy it to set a new schedule. Letting users manage scheduled posts in their profile is good but a bit short. Iβd like a simple scheduling tool that allows changes even after publication. You could also add a general function to disable a post or set it to appear later β currently you can only delete it.
β’ It would be great to be able to deactivate individual Spaces (Spaces = RΓ€ume, nicht Abstand).
β’ It would be nice to upload custom icon sets as well as smileys & reactions.
β’ Make the left sidebar width adjustable β itβs too wide for my setup β and allow changing the font size.
β’ It would be great if users could create their own color schemes.
The left sidebar adjustable and allowing font size change is an accessibility issue, too! Shahjahan JewelΒ
As people get older, eyesight shifts. By not allowing these changes, you will isolate potential members from using the platform (and if they live in a place where they can, they could sue you).
Reminder that online only businesses' websites are the store! By not having accessibility built in, you basically are saying "no disabled people allowed."
Whether or not you have an issue with disabled people (yes, there are some people out there that do), we're all gonna get old one day (hopefully). We all know older people. And if you're like me, I like taking care of ALL people.
