Fluent Members (Upcoming)

I am really excited for this. When will it be launched? What are its features?

Thomas Oates

What is Fluent Member?

Suneel

Thomas OatesΒ It's a new wordpress membership plugin from the fluent team.

Bryan William

SuneelΒ maybe it will solve the content dripping request in fluent community

William Beem

Now this sounds interesting to me. Cool.

Brett Chitty

Vibe CodeΒ you got some competition

Vibe Code

Brett ChittyΒ hey buddy. well, if it's free then its even better! Let's keep opensource living!

William Beem

Now we need FluentEvents, too.

M C

William BeemΒ  SpaceEvent works great. I highly recommend it. I decided not to wait. With SpaceEvent, you already have access to a ton of features that, in FC's case, you'll probably have to wait a long time for.

Shahjahan JewelΒ Considering the 300k websites using Restrict Content Pro, which has essentially been abandoned by Liquid Web/Stellar over the last 4 years, I’m sure Fluent Members will do very well, great call. Migration plugin anyone? 😊

AS W

Can anybody from the team explain what we can expect from fluentMember ? :)

Shahjahan JewelΒ Any update on this? I thought it was expected to land last month? The new pages feature in FluentCommunity is great, but it's still impossible to use standard shortcodes or Gutenberg blocks in them (like in course lessons), which makes it impossible to emulate Learndash Groups. I'm really hoping that FluentMembers will allow us to migrate from Learndash by making it possible to have group pages that accept standard Gutenberg blocks, standard shortcodes from other Fluent plugins, FC course content drip for a specific group, etc. Right now, we're still stuck with Learndash...

Ross FCA

Screenplay UnlimitedΒ what sort of blocks do you need?

Ross FCAΒ Hi Ross, I already have FCA-Hub, so I could use course blocks to replace some of the blocks I use in my LD groups (I already use your checklist block), but many are missing. The main one is FluentCart products. I want to track when participants of my workshops and courses download some of their course materials, tag them with FluentCRM when they do, chase them with FCRM automations when they don’t and the best way to do this is to use FluentCart free downloads. Really annoying that Fcom lessons and pages are unable to display standard blocks and shortcodes, including from other Fluent products. I’ve done a full assessment of my group pages, lessons etc, I could just about convert our courses using FCA blocks but it doesn’t cut it for group pages. I have countdown timers, fluent bookings, table of contents, students notes, AI chat assistant, notices, buttons, and only a few of these can be converted using your excellent blocks. So I’m hoping that fluent members will resolve this, otherwise I’ll have to create custom pages to replace groups (or maybe use Vibe Code ’s solution). I’ve already created custom restrictions for products to replace the EDD ones. I have a full audit done, and it’s way too much work at the moment to fill all the gaps between LD and FC.

Ross FCA

Screenplay UnlimitedΒ awesome, thanks for the support. I recently released FCA Blocks which replaces Course Blocks. Has all the originals and a bunch more. I'm canvassing to see what else is needed so I can build some more for pages.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, 3rd party blocks designed for wordpress pages can't work inside the community as they bring a lot of extra scripts and styles that aren't supported. All my Blocks are built specifically to work within fcom and adopt your community styles without the extra bloat. I'm working on a fluentforms block for example and need custom scripts for nearly every form type. FluentCart should be straightforward enough to integrate with my download blocks too. Countdown timers and table of contents are definitely possible and I'll add them to the list.

I'd not hold your breath for Fluentmembers bringing anything inside the community. It will absolutely allow you to control access etc but from the sounds of it any user facing dashboards and pages will be outside the community environment.

Ross FCAΒ thanks, in fact I’m seeing it differently. I’m only/mainly interested in the courses side of fcom, if I could disable the spaces and conversations I would. So if FluentMembers allow us to gate standard group pages outside of fcom that support rendering all plugins shortcodes and blocks, I can simply link to the relevant course(s) in fcom (assuming they will also be gated by fluentmembers, though I have custom restrictions in place already). I don’t have the time to moderate spaces, and most of my users are not interested in the community aspect (they prefer to create their own whatsapp group and stay in touch outside of my website once they have met), so if I could disable spaces entirely it would be great. I’d just use the courses and the web app. But any additional blocks in your plugin are welcome! Keep up the good work! :)

Screenplay UnlimitedΒ I don’t think you should expect FC to emulate LearnDash. It’s not what they aim for. They aren’t going to copy any other platform. You say that if you could remove the conversation and spaces, you would. You mean, disabling what’s at the core of FC? What’s the point of moving from learndash to FC if you want FC to be like learndash and if you don’t like the main aspects of FC?

AS WΒ I'm not expecting anything, there was no promise made at any point that fcom would be a full LMS like Learndash. I'm simply hoping that Fluent Members will help bridging some the gap between the two. The main point is to stop paying an annual license for Learndash (and many associated plugins) and to have a leaner website. I mostly purchased Fcom for the courses feature and the abilty to replace LD in the long term (I tried the community aspect but it doesn't work for my audience). If this doesn't happen, I will custom code what I need, but at the moment the gap is simply to wide and unfortunately there is no clear roadmap letting us know what is going to be developped/supported. My main gripe is that fcom is unable to render shortcodes from other fluent plugins. At the very least fluentcart, fluentbooking and fluentcrm should be supported. For example, I use fluentcrm conditional blocks in my LD groups, it's annoying that this isn't supported in anything within fcom, due to its custom rendering. Again, I'm not expecting Fcom to become LD, I'm only hoping that FluentMembers will allow to gate standard wordpress pages and fcom courses so that I can finally migrate from LD to a fully fluent stack. I don't think it's entirely unreasonable. After moving from EDD to FluentCart, from WP Affiliate to FluentAffiliate, from Calendly to FluentBooking and from s3mediavault to FluentPlayer (I purchased a license for all the fluent plugins except paymattic), the last non-fluent major piece of my stack regarding online training is Learndash, and especially since the LiquidWeb takeover I'd like to get rid of it ASAP. Hopefully, fcom + fmembers will bridge most of the gap, and I'll code the rest.
