Feature Request: Space-Level Mods with Limited Permissions
Hello Shahjahan Jewel We’d love to request a feature that allows us to assign moderators to specific groups or subspaces only, rather than granting community-wide moderation access. These would function as space-level mods or sub-admins, helping manage and organize their assigned areas.
Additionally, we’d like these roles to have adjustable permissions — specifically:
- ✅ Ability to move content between topics within their assigned space
- ❌ Abilty to turn off their permission to edit and or delete any user content
- ❌ Ability to turn off their access to mod tools outside their assigned space
This would help us maintain a secure, decentralized moderation structure in our collaborative community, especially as we scale and run multiple themed spaces for different creator groups.
Thanks so much for your continued support — this would be a game-changing feature for structured community engagement!
Noted. We will take a look and improve the moderator roles.
Oh wow, thanks for posting, Ceez Vision !
I thought this was already available and was very much looking forward to this capability.
Please add my +1 vote for this feature, Shahjahan Jewel, thanks!
Update: I'd be happy with just a basic "Moderator for Space #7" level of access.
Wait, wait! This is not possible now? If I will add admin to one space - this admin is admin for other spaces? It make no sense - this is so confusing - i want to have moderators and admins only for particular spaces. Shahjahan Jewel - is it really like that now?
Jarek Kaniewski if you elect to make someone a mod/admin, it's for all spaces, althought its convenetly changable within members tab for each of the spaces. If that make the universal mods it does create a kind of misconception that are applying it to just that space so I see your point.
Ceez Vision "convenetly changable within members tab for each of the spaces." - what do you mean by that? It is very important to me - as I don't want moderators and admins to be assigned to all the spaces but to one or two - chosen by me as Site Owner... is it possible? I treat Spaces - as Facebook Groups... I dont want Mod/Admni i assigne to be in charge of ALL SPACES... it is quite confusing - for me and for them...
is there a solution for it now (as i dont understand - convenetly changable within members tab for each of the spaces) or we need to wait for this upgrade?
And another question. SO - I have a private circle. Someone (lets call him Mr. White) joins this circle - if admin of the circle A makes Mr. White a Moderator of this circle - then if Mr. White is a member circle B - he is not changing into Moderator of circle B automatically? - It is quite confusing - and shold be explaned in a tutorial or something. Shahjahan Jewel Ceez Vision
Jarek Kaniewski Removing this as not to confuse anyone. Thanks for those that actualy tested the ability to assign mods to specific spaces. Id still like the ability to turn off specific abilites for mods. or have a high level view of which mods are over which spaces.
Ceez Vision It looks like it is not like that. As the main Admin of the site, I entered Space A and made person X to be a Moderator, and than in Space B I've made person X to be a member - and it worked. So it is possible. / I need Shahjahan Jewel to clarify how it works - as this is quite fundamental think here.
Jarek Kaniewski Thanks for this! I just did the same and yep, it works. Whew!
+1
I just tested it and it works.
For community-wide roles (/admin/settings/moderators), you can give access as admins, moderators, course creators, etc. But they are community wide.
If you want a moderator (or admin) for a single space, go to that space (you need to be an admin to do this) and you'll see 3 dots to the right of the members and change their role for that space.
Whew!
Oh ok perfect! Thanks for the clarity.
So does it already work or not?? This thread was super-confusing.
