Export to Buddyboss?!

Does anybody have any ideas for exporting all my posts, members, data, back to buddyboss? Unfortunately development is moving way to slow here and there's been no update on when we can expects features that were promised months ago. I guess they've moved on to Affiliate...

I'm moving from BuddyBoss to here for some similar reasons. I've been a loyal user of BB since 2019 and they've been promising the same set of features since then. They thought back then that they could get all the features I wanted done in a year. They planned which quarters they would fall in and everything. Since then, 2 out of the 12 features I wanted have been done. The others? Well, there have been 3 different iterations of the Roadmap since I got my hopes up and no sign of things changing in the future. They moved on to BuddyBoss app and lost interest in them, I think. Like dark mode.

But mostly, I'm swapping because buddyboss makes my website so slow

Shani CiproΒ yes same πŸ‘πŸΌ

Gee AdriaanszΒ Yes I completely respect that more transparency about updates would be nice, but Tabitha HawkinsΒ BuddyBoss is much worse! And slower!

Not sure why you think the development has slowed down. The team is working tirelessly to build new features and improvements. The updates we release in a quarter, BB can't match with that even for a year. I think I have posted about our next big update a few times and disclosed that this update will take time. We can release an update every week by adding some silly features, changing a few lines of CSS, and I think that may make you super happy, but that will not add any real value.

Now answering your question:

All of the FluentCommunity data are stored on fcom-prefixed database tables, so you can query the data and send back to BB. Or you may request to BB to build a migration like we did.

Shahjahan JewelΒ I mostly agree, but the fact is that the lack of information about progress is very irritating for us, the users. Let’s take this nearest update as an example. If I look back over the last 4 weeks, I’ll find several answers like:

  • next week (4 weeks ago)
  • very soon (3 weeks ago)
  • for a few days (2 weeks ago)

And this kind of communication makes you, as a team, unreliable. Which is a shame, because as I’ve written many times – you are doing absolutely excellent work. It’s just that communication is the weakest link.

The same goes for the question of what you are working on. Nobody knows what will be in the upcoming updates. Let’s take (just one example out of many) the ticket system for Fluent Booking – promised multiple times already over quite a long period. I am a user (again, just as an example) who read that it would be "soon," and after a year it’s still "soon" – I simply stop trusting you.

And it’s similar in many cases. NOBODY would blame you if an update took 3 months, 4 months, or more, if only you could inform us in a way like: "We are now working on something big, namely: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5. Therefore, the next update is expected on xx.xx.xx," and if the date is delayed, you post an update in the same thread.

Honestly, such an approach would completely change your image into a much more professional one.

Let me emphasize once again – you are doing great things, I am your user, and your solutions and approach are excellent. But communication is terrible, awful, unserious, slow, and unreliable. And I’m not saying this out of spite, I’m saying it only because I very much want this element to improve. For now, after more than 2 years with you and your products, I don’t see that you’ve made any step forward in this area. And I sincerely wish it for both myself and for you.

Shahjahan JewelΒ I respect your opinion on the topic, but as Michal PaczulaΒ mentioned you give vague answers and promised dates, instead of just communicating honestly. I have been waiting months for events, which you said was coming "in the next release" a few releases ago. There is also no word on when or if dynamic profiles/customizable fields are coming, and that is critical for my app.

Shahjahan Jewel

Tabitha HawkinsΒ events in the next week? I think I never said that. This is something we are still exploring. I never promised anything about the events or dynamic profile fields.

I think I made a post few weeks ago about the follow module that we are working on which was the most requested feature.

I also mentioned it will take time.
